The First Tragedy

"What just happened?!" Daisy said.

Alex was too shocked to say anything. She finally found her voice.

"Mandy, you just saved my life. How did you know?"

"I just had a bad feeling..."

"You didn't just have a bad feeling, you had something to do with it," Josh said.

" Guys, why do we have her in this group anyway? She has only brought us nothing but doom and misfortune" Josh said angrily.

"That's not true. I haven't brought doom to anyone. How was I supposed to know this would happen?" Mandy said.

"But we told you not to touch it," Erica said.

"Now, we have something we don't know chasing us. Daisy is wounded because of you. All because of what? Your selfishness? She's the youngest in this group and now she has to go through all this." Erica added angrily.

"I didn't ask her to come on this trip anyway," Mandy retorted.

"What! How would you feel if this happened to Mika or Aki? Don't you even feel apologetic?" Erica asked, getting angry.

"I do feel horrible right now, but you guys are just attacking me," Mandy said.

"Daisy had to go through all of this, and here you are talking about us attacking you?"

"But really....."

"Guys!! Guys!!!!! Guys!!!!!!" Then the car stopped.

"Why did the car stop?" Daisy asked in a scared, quiet, hushed tone.

"I think the tires just got busted," Eric said.

They all came out of the car and realized that one of the tires was gone and everywhere was suddenly quiet. They were all shocked.

" Okay now, have you done some of your voodoo to take away our tires and kill us all?" Josh asked.

"Do I look like a witch?" Mandy replied.

"Yes."

"Is that what you think of me?" Manandra asked. It broke her heart. They never accepted her from the start.

"Don't take it to heart Manandra, Josh talks s**t when he's scared," Eric said. And Josh, stop saying s**t, this is not the time to quarrel. I think we should change the tires because everywhere is suddenly quiet.

Do you think it's still chasing us? Anyway, I'm going to get the spare tire from under the truck.

As Eric went for the tire, Manandra suddenly felt that bad feeling.

"Eric I don't think you should.!"

"Why not,...."

"ERIC!! ERIC!!" She said as she dragged him away once again and they fell on top of each other.

" Really??? This is not the time for GN love stories. You two can get up now." Sven said.

And they all turned to see what had happened. A stone had smashed their car like a sandwich. How did that stone even get there, to begin with? At that moment, they heard an ear-piercing growl and began to run.

"How do you always predict danger ahead of time?" Josh said

"Are we close to the construction site?" Mandy said ignoring, Josh,

"Ain't I talking to you b***h?......" He was then interrupted by a loud noise, it sounded as if stones were rolling down a mountain close by. They all ran towards the gate of the construction site. Although the city of Scaven is connected to Astoria island, the only thing separating the city from the island was the construction site.

The government built it there to stop people from entering the city or the island, until the island was ready to accommodate people and tourists, like a beach. Only certified tourists and historians like the TRESPASSERS were allowed. Its gates were locked with a passcode which was changed every year.

The noises got louder as they approached the gate, Sven put in the passcode but the word "incorrect" sounded from the device, they tried again and again, but it didn't work.

"Could they have changed the passcode?" Sven asked in panic as the noises grew more intense. He switched to the voice note.

"We are the TRESPASSERS, we registered here with the number 2614 we need to get in as quickly as possible," Sven said.

"Sorry, please put in the passcode" The device replied.

"Why is nobody answering?"

"Wait what's today's date?" Alex asked

They all realized it was Thursday, a traditional holiday when no one goes to work. That explains why no one answered.

"Sven, try it again," Eric said.

They tried it again and again until Sven got so frustrated and banged his hand on it, shouting.

"Wait, they must have changed the passcode. I don't know why but they are all bitches." Manandra said.

"The founder of Scavengas, Louis Wayne, was born around 1351 and died 1535. She was the longest woman to live. What do you think the passcode would be?" she added.

"5115," Sven said in realization.

He tried typing in the passcode again, but his hands were too wet from nervous sweating. He then smashed his hand on the 'use voice' button and said the passcode aloud.

" The passcode is correct, " It said and they all breathed a sigh of relief as the gates opened automatically. They ran towards the entrance as fast as they could. Almost before they could reach it, they heard a loud crumble and the mountain sand covered the entrance.

"What a shitty avalanche," Sven said.

"f**k, we ARE doomed," Alex said.

"What are we gonna do now," Erica said. "It's blocked the whole entrance," She added.

"Did the workers leave an active bomb on purpose?" Josh asked.

"No, I think it's doing it on purpose," Manandra said.

"Well you will know because you asked it to do it"

"What? that's ridiculous"

"Guys there is an opening...."

Alex could not complete her sentence because more stone rolled and covered the opening at the iron gate. They all rushed to see but it had covered.

"s**t!!!!!!" She said in frustration.

"Now we are so doomed. What exactly are we gonna do?" Erica asked.

"Uhmmm... I think we can climb up that fence that's covered in rock, it seems kind of stable" Daisy suggested in pain and squealed in more pain.

"Okay, you just sit here and I'll take a look at the place". Eric said as they rested Daisy on the ground and Erica watched her. There was no time to analyze much, but it seemed pretty stable to climb.

"Okay, Josh you climb first to the other side."

"I'm not doing that I want to stay, and be sure that Manandra goes last so that she dies if anything happens," Josh said

"Common man, don't be ridiculous. Someone needs to be the one to help others on the other side, and it has to be you. You have to be the one to help out here ".

"Fine, but Manandra goes last." Manandra just smiled at his pettiness.

"Yeah, yeah."

They helped Josh to the other side. The place was a bit too high.

"Daisy is going first," Erica said.

"We need people at the back in case she misses a step and falls, you guys can be her pillow"

Erica just nodded her head and they helped her up, everyone was helped by Eric when climbing up, and when it got to Mandy's turn, Josh saw it was Mandy and left her, so she fell.

"Bitch." Mandy muttered under her breath.

Eric started helping Daisy up when they heard a loud rumbling noise and she fell back down. It was just the iron bars on the fence and all the stones were moved away from the fence. So the fence was just straight, and it would be very hard for Daisy to climb up with her wounded leg.

Immediately, they heard a loud growl and they all turned to see it was the entity coming from afar. At that point, Erica immediately regretted why she didn't let Daisy go first. The entity came closer and they knew they were doomed.

" Eric! Look at me, you have to go and leave me" Daisy said to Eric.

"Nooooo!!!! Daisy, look at me. Eric will help you up. We are not gonna leave you" Erica said "It's gonna be just fine" She added. She could see Daisy through the fence.

"It's not fine Erica, he has to go and leave me here. If not, we both are gonna die"

And it was true. Erica was devastated and heartbroken. Is this truly how Daisy will die here? She was just 16 and had her whole life ahead of her. Erica had to watch the person she swore to protect die right in front of her. Tears rolled down her eyes unwillingly as she said: "No Daisy don't say that"

"I'm sorry Erica but I don't wanna see you die either. Look around Erica, there is no choice.

I'm sorry but I love you and always will, big sis. "

She placed her hand on the iron double bar fence, and Erica reached for it. Daisy turned to

Eric and nodded. As he started to climb, Erica shouted

"Nooooooooooo!!!!!! Eric, go back and help her!". But Eric didn't reply. He just continued climbing.

"Daisy!!!! Daisy!!!!"

Daisy took the bomb that she always kept with her in case of emergencies and tried to light it. She was going to kill herself along with the entity/monster. Erica was pulled away by Eric and Sven because she kept on clinging to the iron bars calling for Daisy.

When the entity got close enough, Daisy lit the bomb and screamed "Screw you!!!!!" before it exploded. The force of the explosion pushed the rest of the group forward, before finally hitting the ground and fainting.
