“What…,” was all Aysha managed to say as she took in what Zayne had just told her. He was the one her mother gave her life for? Her father had never gone into detail about what happened that day, and now the person her mother gave her life for was here.
“You’ve known all this time?” Aysha whispered as she finally found her voice.
“At first, I thought you knew, but after we started talking and you never brought it up, I had a feeling that you didn’t,” Zayne said awkwardly and rubbed his ribs where he had scarring from claw marks, and she wondered if they were connected to what happened that day. “After that,” he continues, “It didn’t seem right to just bring that up out of the blue since I didn’t know how badly her death affected you.”
