Me and Alice stood at the top of the stairs, I could hear the faint chattering and music from the ballroom. "We can do this Rosa" she whispered and grabbed my hand. A part of me believed Alice, but if only she knew what this whole thing was about maybe she wouldn't be so eager.
We took the stairs, Alice one at a time extremely graceful and I decided to take two and smirk. I caught Aunt Marie's deadly glare and I innocently shrugged my shoulders and continued bouncing the stairs.
Everyone became completely silent when we arrived at the bottom and Alice walked toward a young man bowing and asking him to dance. Oh my gosh, she is such a flirt! As soon as they began dancing everyone became completely normal and the lighthearted laughing was back in the atmosphere.
I looked around me, seeing that there were a lot of people here tonight, all of them dressed in fine silks and gowns with swirly patterns. Suddenly a man in his 20's came to me and asked me to dance. He wasn't a bad dancer but my eyes were somewhere else. "You are a very good dancer Miss" his squeaky voice came up.

He slid his hand down on my waist and I closed my eyes shut, I was feeling really uncomfortable with him and before he could get any further a familiar voice asked: "May I cut in."
The slimy man grunted and released his grip on me while the familiar man placed his large hand on the small of my back and engulfed my hand with his large one.
"You can open your eyes now," he said amused. And I did slowly open my eyes.
"Luca? What are you- why are you...How?" My questions stumbled out of my mouth and he silenced me with his deep chuckle.
"I'm the Duke of Sagefield after all."
My mouth hung open and I stopped dancing trying to collect myself.
"Deepest apologies Your Grace. Excuse my ignorance." I stuttered out.
"Please don't apologize, Ro, treat me as I was before you knew about my title. Shall we take a walk?" He asked coolly.
"Of course Your-" He eyed me.
"Luca."
"Do you by any chance know the hostess that is holding this ball?" He guided me through the Moonlight and sat me on the cold marble bench.
"Actually- uh no, I have no idea who she is. I was just leaving
