Chapter Eight

205 Words
I made it all the way past the garden, through the weeping willow trees, and finally silently rushed into the stables. Strapping saddle bags and placing items in, my mind begins to wander. I guess I should've thought this whole situation through, but I don't want to get married to some rich fool. I have my whole life ahead of me, I can make something out of myself, be someone. I don't want to put my life on hold just to be locked inside of a house like some silly court lady?! Preposterous if you ask me. Being all damsels in distress they wouldn't even survive one day in the real world. Slinging the saddle over my shoulder and took a quick jog over to Phillipe's stall and tacked him up as quietly as I possibly could. Petting all of the stable's horses for the last time I walked out making use of the soft dirt. It all seemed like a lifetime ago; me giggling in the sun while my father chased me around the house in the gardens, my mother wearing a content smile while she cuts the roses off of the bush and the dogs rushing past our legs every now and then.
