“What?” I gasped. I couldn’t have been more shocked if someone told me Grams had walked in and asked for me. I adored Mandy and Xander but I never would have thought they’d name their kid after me. I never thought anyone would.
“What’s her name?” Max asked, beaming at me.
“Elise Marie. Elise is Charlie’s middle name,” Lexi explained to Max, “and Marie is Xander’s mom’s middle name. Claire said they never could have gotten through Mandy’s pregnancy without you, Charles, so they wanted to honor you with Elise’s name.”
