Bill watched as Ruby got into that guy's car, keeping his face carefully neutral even as frustration simmered beneath the surface. He casually waved goodbye to his teammates, who had followed him outside.
"Seriously? You're not coming?" Stephen asked, sounding disappointed. "You just got out of a relationship. Shouldn't you be hitting the bar to blow off some steam?"
"Nope. Not in the mood," Bill said in a low tone.
Stephen could tell he really meant it and didn't push further.
Driving home alone, Bill was fuming. A tangled mess of anger and bitterness churned inside him, making his breath heavier than usual.
When he got home, Paul looked genuinely surprised to see him back so early.
"Oh, Bill! Didn't expect you back so soon. Are you feeling alright?"
