soon as Simon leaves, I stir up my whole network. But a few hours later, it
becomes clear that my chances of succeeding are very slim. Simon is right–that
kind of investment is considered very risky, and no one wants to touch it.
The
girls try to encourage me. “If there’s a solution, you’ll find it,” Amy
affirms.
“And
you should give Ian the benefit of the doubt. You don’t know if this Carla is
telling the truth.” Allison, always the optimist, tries to persuade me I’m
wrong about Ian, but I don’t see how that could be the case. Even if his
relationship with Carla was in bad shape, he should have told me about it.
Later
in the evening, I have an appointment with Simon, and I’m sorry I don’t have
any good news to announce to him
