Detective Dickson 5 : Existential Pandemic

Escape from Ogre island

Anna opens her eyes, she felt uncomfortable like she was lying on on a wooden object, she looks to her right and sees Amanda, she was unconscious, turning to the other direction, it was Emily.  She looked around where she was, she appeared to be on a giant wooden circular plate, there was a tuna fish not too far from her but what was so amazing was the size of the fish, it was at least ten feet tall.

The plate appeared to be lying on the ground in a deep dark cave.

"GRRRRRRR" she heard one ogre say, thanks to having Draculean blood in her veins, she understood what the ogre said.

He had said the food was ready in the room for the king.

"This can't be good" Anna mutters, it was then that she tried to recount the events that had previously happened, she was facing against Redoulp, he had just appeared and begun attacking them, he summoned a lot of giants and ogres, looking over at the fish, whosever must come to hit them must be at least forty foot tall but the ogres who had visited were each less than ten feet tall and according to what that ogre said, this was just for one person, was there an unusual gigantic ogre.

"I don't have time to think about that now, I will leave the worrying for later, right now, I have to wake my friends" She thinks as she begins to hit Amanda and Emily simultaneously.

"Wake up, we have to go" Emily says loudly.

"Oooh Bale, take it easy, you will injure me" Amanda moans pleasantly as she arrives back to reality, there was an amazed look on Anna's face but she quickly brushes it off.

Amanda cleans her eyes as she peers around the place where they were

"Where are we" she asks.

"I don't know but an ogre or a bunch of them, I am not sure yet wants to come and eat us, we need to get Emily to wake up, open a portal and get out of here" Anna replies her.

"Can't you just summon one of your portals and we'd be back home" Amanda asks.

"I can't" Anna replies, she removes the pendant of her necklace from inside her shirt

"Here, do you see any light?"

"Not one that's visible" Amanda replies.

"Exactly, these place runs on some sort of anti magic barrier, meaning spells can't be used, only Emily can be of use to us now to escape" Anna replies

"But for some reason, she isn't waking up."

"Lemme try" Amanda smiles at her as she tries to communicate telepathically with Emily but she screams.

"AHHHHRGGGGH, STOP IT, IT HURTS, MY HEAD, IT HURTS" she screams aloud as she held her head.

"What's the problem?" Anna asks visibly worried.

"Any time I try to send telepathic signals, my head hurts and if I try to access minds directly, it requires no signal, I just get in, the headache quadruples, I can't do this" Amanda says her eyes turning red, she appeared to be in a whole lot of pain.

"You have to try, if you don't, we are all going to die" Anna tells her.

"You don't know the pain I faced, nothing will ever make me pull that stunt again, I can't squeal like that again, it's unbearable, no matter what even to the point of death" Amanda says as she holds her head, she was continually shaking it, it really hurt her.

Just then, they heard a deafening sound at the other end of the room as if something big was being rolled out of the way.

"GRRRRRRRR" came an ogre entering from the far end of the cave, it appeared he rolled a stone out of it's position in order to enter, he was about seventy feet tall, his skin was all grey, it had yellow eyes and sharp fangs which came out from his lips, a big pot belly and he held a fork in his right arm and with every step he made, he caused the ground to tremble.

"What did he say?" Amanda's facial expression had changed into one of fear.

"He said he can't wait to taste human meat and also something about his itchy balls, not like that's anything I want to dwell on" Anna says with a disgusted look on her face.

"Ewwww" Amanda says with a disgusted face

"That's gross, I really don't want to get eaten by that thing" she says as she watches the overgrown ogre approaching them, he moved very slow as if lifting his weight was a problem.

Closing her eyes, Amanda screams internally, she tried to keep the pain in by biting her lower lip, she soon gained direct link to Emily's mind.

"Wake up, we need you" she mutters as she relinquishes the connection, she breathes heavily, she was sweating profusely and her eyes were all read, she had felt immense pain.

"You did it" Anna smiles at her, Emily was waking up.

"Wait, something was wrong" Amanda says.

"What?" Anna asks.

"Usually, when I try to even get a connection with Emily's mind, I feel this sensation as if I am being bounced away but when I tried to do it to her, it wasn't there, she was just like..."

Emily sits up, there was an injury on her shoulder, the place where Redoulp touched her, Amanda notices it as she gasps

"... every other human."

"It's as I feared, I hoped for a miracle" Anna says mournfully, the ogre was just a few miles away from their location

"If we don't want to be eaten, we better leave this place now."

"Emi, can you stand?" Amanda asks.

"I think I can" Emily says as she gets to her feet but she holds her shoulder

"Oouch, it really hurts."

"Sorry" Amanda says as she cuts off the lower part of her cloth and uses it to tie the injury.

"Thank you" Emily smiles.

"We are BFFs, ain't we?" Amanda smiles back.

"Awwwn, this is so cute" Anna began

"But we have got a overgrown ogre heading towards us, let's go now except if we wanna end up in it's belly."

As she said that, she jumps off the plate, Amanda and Emily too follow suit.

"I don't understand" Emily says as she was running alongside the two girls

"Can't Amanda just telepathically tell him to do something else."

"Sorry to break it to you" Anna says aloud

"But our abilities have all become defective, it appears it only activates when magical or mental skill is used but it already has an always active skill, it diminishes our physical stats to that of a mere human, based on that nature, it's a level 5 blekion cube."

"I don't run on either of the two, what's wrong with me?" Emily asks.

"I am sorry, I think Redoulp is responsible for what happened to you, he used an angelic blessing on you, disability" Anna replies as she bows her head regrettably.

Emily felt devastated, her being an Alpha-human was the best thing that ever happened to her, though she always blamed it that it was the reason she had no friends and was seen as a freak but now that she had lost her powers, she realized she was just being petty, it was never the reason, she was.

"Look at the bright side" Amanda smiles at her

"You always said it was the reason why you were seen as a freak and wasn't popular, now that it's gone, we can both be the most popular girls at school with no one being seen as a freak."

"Yeah, that's great news" Emily says with a crestfallen look.

They had been running for quite a while as they now arrive at the entrance.

"We really need to thank the ogre for pulling this door open for us, else we wouldn't have had any way outta here" Amanda smiles as she comes out, the other two girls came out, they had smiles on but as they saw what was outside, their smiles instantly vanish.

Directly outside was crawling with ogres of normal height and size about six to eight feet.

The ogres stared back but they didn't have happy expressions on their faces.

"This is definitely not good" Amanda mutters.

"GRRRRRRRR" the ogres mumble amongst themselves, Emily frowns, for the first time in her life, people were talking and she didn't understand, she could understand any insect, all forms of organisms around including plants and microbes but for the first time, she was completely blank.

"Ann, what are they saying?" Amanda asks.

"They are arguing which of them is going to consume us since their chief couldn't" Anna says with an uncomfortable grin.

"Can this day get any worse?" Emily frowns.

"What's the problem?" Amanda asks her.

"Don't worry, I am fine" Emily says trying to put on a strong facade.

"Is it about your powers?" Amanda asks.

"Obviously" Anna says as she keeps looking ahead trying to analyse the threat.

"I am sorry, usually, I can just read someone's mind to know what's on them" Amanda apologizes.

"That's pretty convenient but we can have time to feel pity for her later" Anna begins

"Update on the new ogre talk, they want to play catch the delicacy and I don't think figuring out what they mean by delicacy is tedious."

"Did they actually use delicacy?" Amanda asks

"Their miniscule brains can't fathom that word, it's more of capture the walking food" Anna smiles.

"Really primitive, I am sure they'd have nothing spectacular" Amanda grins but she regrets what she said almost immediately she had uttered it, the ogres divided themselves into three groups, each took weapons which were around such as stones and clubs except the third group who just gazed slothfully.

"GRRRR" the one who seemed to be in control of the first group shouts, he stood out as he had a red marking on his face, as he did, everyone begins to throw stones towards them, the girls jump out of the way as they tried their very best to escape the thrown stones, they scattered.

"We have got to get out of here, let's meet at that large rock" Anna says pointing to a rock in the distance as she runs towards the left side.

Amanda nods at her as she runs directly at the third groups of ogre as they seemed to be oblivious of what was happening.

Emily towards the right side, sprinting as fast as she could.

The third group seeing free food dash towards him.

"This is gonna hurt me more than it hurts you and I mean it literally" Amanda grunts as she closes her eyes, soon, the one in front trips and falls down, the remaining ogres trip on him falling to the ground, she runs around but instead of the Ogres to chase after her, they get up and begin to fight against each other, injuring one another, breaking skulls and injuring each other in the process.

Anna keeps running as fast as she could, apparently the ones Chasing her was the second group, these ones held clubs as they chased her.

She runs past, the entire area was bare, just small bushes and talk trees around, she came to a dead end as a giant rock was blocking the way.

"Ooh no" Anna frowns, she hears some snickering coming from behind her, she turns to see about forty ogres each holding clubs, they appeared to be smiling, they had found themselves fresh meat.

"GRRRRRRRR" the obvious leader of the second group smiles aloud.

"I didn't wanna open Dad's present now but turns out I have no choice" Anna says as she presses the pendant on her necklace, a quiver of arrows appear behind her back and a bow in her hands.

"Sweet and I thought it will be something lame like a scroll" she smiles as she runs towards the ogres which also ran towards her, they were lifting their clubs ready for serious combat.

One ogre approaches her, it brings it's club down on her but she slides underneath, she fires her first shot directly in between it's legs.

"GRRRRRRRR" it winces in pain, she quickly gets to her feet as she does a back flip landing on the back of the killed ogre, she begins to fire as fast as she could on the ones approaching her and she was sure to target the forehead and she didn't miss, not even once, the ogres learning that the more they came close, the more certain their death was begin to throw their clubs at her with the intention of replicating the same way she was fighting.

As Anna sees the clubs approaching her in the air, she smiles as she jumps on the clubs  flying toward her, leaping from thrown clubs to thrown clubs, she keeps releasing shots after shots targeting their foreheads.

"I have got to thank you, you dimwits, for throwing your clubs, you gave me an exhilarating vantage point and made the means to your deaths easier" she smiles as she lands on the ground, there were about seven ogres remaining, one of them dashes towards her, she makes a quick feint towards her left, then she shoots at it's knee.

"GRRRRR" it screams, she does a front flip hitting her feet against it's ugly face, it causes it to scream as it jerks his head backwards, Anna smiles as she brings out two arrows from her quiver and shoots, it flies true ripping his ears of his face as it also pierces through the forehead of two ogres who were heading towards his direction who collapse to the ground, she grins as she shoots another arrow into his arm causing the already mutilated ogre to scream painfully.

"Want some more" She smiles at the remaining four ogres but they all drop their clubs and run away.

"Such simpletons" she grins to herself as she turns towards the injured ogre who was lying at her feet.

"I have got a question."

Emily keeps running as fast as she could, unfortunately for her, it was the rock throwing ogres which were after her trail, they noticed she was the weakest amongst the three and they decided to use that to her advantage, a rock topples her neck causing her to lose balance but from her chest fell her father's golden strangely designed golden weapon, he popularly called it the golden D.

Then she remembered the time she was flying with her dad, at once, he tried to hug her but she felt a lot of contact with her chest, that was when her Dad had snuck the weapon into it but how did she not notice, she had decided not to take her clothes off cause Alucard had instructed for them to come in order to protect the hyperverse, her Dad really was the sneaky type but thanks to his actions, she might walk out of this situation without suffering severe damage, picking up the gun, she smiles, her father had taught her to shoot.

Emily runs towards the ogres, the ogres grin as they began to throw stones at her but Emily putting her weapon forward, she fires as fast as she could, since the Ogres had to pick stones from the floor before they could fire while the golden D had infinite ammunition and no reload time, they were at an advantage, Emily fires at the Ogres blasting head and causing blood to splatter about, a stone head towards her direction but she bends her upper body lower to avoid the incoming trajectory, jerking her body back to balance, she sends another volley of shots blasting more heads in the process, soon all of them were dead except one who had a leg broken and was trying to crawl away, she recognized him, he had a red marking on his face, he was the supposed leader, she fires at his head permanently putting him out of business.

She smiles as she blows the smoke out of her weapon.

Amanda was the first to arrive at their promised meet up location by the big rock, Emily comes after.

"I beat you here first" Amanda smiles at her.

"Cause I was busy blasting some head without powers" Emily smiles back at her.

"But I got this" Anna says as she arrives, she was holding a silver colored cube with a length of ten centimetres.

"Is that the cube?" Amanda asks.

"You bet it is, I beat up one ogre and forced him to give me, turns out they don't know what this is, they once tried to eat it, the only reason why it didn't affect them was cause whosever they took it from conditioned it like that, it sees anyone other than the Ogres and activates only against them" Anna smiles as she crushes the cube, the light returns to her necklace

"Now, who's ready to get off ogre island."
