“You’ve had plenty of time to water the seed.” Stilts is back. He leans against the wall, his head bent towards mine. He watches me with an almost eerie interest. There’s a hint of sadness in his fathomless eyes as he moves a strand of hair from my face. “It’s almost over.” His warm breath drifts across my face, making my skin tingle. The door to my room opens, and the dim light from the hall illuminates the path along the long corridor to my last memory. Bright, yellow light beneath a steel door indicates what’s on the other side. I’m familiar with this scene. I make my way to the door and reach for the handle. Blood on my hands.
