Okay, so it was just a community play staged by a group of local actors. But it was I, Reginald Dewitt, starring as Romeo. Fine, it was a stage name because Mack Smith looks simply awful in a playbill. In any case, Romeo! I could’ve squealed with delight when I saw my name posted outside the theater. Actually, I did squeal. And why not? This was Romeo and Juliet, one of the most famous plays in the history of humankind. And I was to be its star! Looked good on paper, anyway. The Bard might’ve seen it differently. In fact, what he would’ve seen was the director’s wife cast as Juliet despite her complete dearth of experience.
