Chapter 7

2670 Words
Analisa's POV I was so glad that a director called me to offer me a chance to audition for a movie he thought I would be perfect for. I hate acting, but being away from my parents is always a positive thing. Even if I am watched like a hawk, my schedule changes to fit my on-set acting schedule. Thankfully, that ended lunch for me and gave me a reason to leave. I am tired of posing and changing outfits and getting my hair pulled into different styles along with different make-up looks thanks to my wonderful mother being indecisive today. So I will take the audition rather than posing more. Not to mention her freaking out because the male model they wanted to pair with me was a no show. She probably scared him off. She is difficult to work with and even worse to work for. She only shows up to photoshoots for her own designs, which is a huge positive, and my father never shows his face. He always sends his personal assistants, Helen or Josh. My mother has many assistants, so it is hard to keep track of their names. I am almost on to the set where I am going to do the audition. I took a few deep breaths as I read the script the director emailed over. "Analisa, are you okay? Are you sure you have the energy to do this audition? From what I read, it seems like a lot of action and moving." "Awe, I think you are the only person to actually care, but that could be because I am your source of income." I said without glancing up. He clears his throat, making me glance at him. "Analisa, I do care and I am worried you are pushing yourself too much. I do not care about the money. I can always find a different job, but you cannot be replaced. Please take care of yourself." I smiled at him then looked back at the script. "Ryan, keep that up and I will think you are trying to get with me." He chuckled. "We are here. Let me go and open your door." I hummed and waited for him to do as he said. As I made my way through the set, I saw scowls on everyone's faces. I also see some girls and guys checking us out. Does no one have respect these days? I also hear some people murmuring that I am a model, not an actor. I just grin and roll my eyes because, unlike them, I never forget my lines. I am also an expert at acting due to all the classes I was forced to take as a child and acting every day of my life. I watch as they all act out the scenes chosen for them and I want to laugh at some of their acting. More than half are terrible and the other half are way too cocky and their acting is overly exaggerated. "Ryan, do me a favor and ask if I can go next, seeing them act is making me want to reject the idea of even auditioning for this movie." He goes to the director and does what I asked of him. He comes back and tells me the director agreed. I was called up next and acted the part perfectly. I see most of the girls glaring at me, but the guys all look at me in awe. I walked to the director. "Call me if you decide to cast me in a role. Otherwise, I will see you around." With that I waved as I walked away. Ryan hands me water and my vitamins. I take them and he helps me into the car. "Ryan. Let's go eat at a restaurant of your choice. I am hungry and I know you are too." He tilts his head as he looks at me. "Alright, but 2 things I want you to be sure of. Are you really sure you are okay with me choosing the restaurant we are going to eat at and are you sure it is a good idea for us to be seen eating together? It may cause gossip because it may look like we are on a date." I bit my lip and looked away. "I am sorry, Ryan, if you are uncomfortable with it, I understand, please forget I mentioned it." "Analisa, I do not mind but you just broke up with Declan and this might upset him." "How considerate of you, but it does not matter if it upsets him because we are no longer together besides me and you know the truth and that is all that truly matters." He nods and puts the car in drive. I decided not to have a driver today, which I regret. Now one of us has to drive. We arrived outside of a small Mexican restaurant. It looked to be discreet but the atmosphere was very relaxing. We ate without anyone bothering us and our conversation flowed naturally. I had a great time and I was at ease the whole time, but unfortunately, everything must come to an end. On the drive back to Ryan's place so I could drop him off. My phone starts to ring and Ryan tells me that it is Declan, so I answer the call, putting it on speaker. 'Hello Declan.' 'Hey babe I really need to talk to you. I know I messed up but I want to make it right. After all, we have been together for years already. We have plans to get married after you are finally free from the contracts with your parents. Baby, please, I love you. Let's work this out' 'Declan, let's talk about this in person. Now is not the time to speak about this. Okay?' 'Yes. Okay babe, I will be at your party. We can discuss it then. ' 'Okay then, bye for now Declan.' 'I love.....' I hung up before he could finish. I sighed and looked at Ryan as we pulled up outside of his place. "Sorry about that. Anyway, thanks for joining me for dinner. I had the best time. The restaurant was so relaxing and yet full of life." "It's okay. I can agree I had the best time too. You may have invited me but I chose the place and I am glad you liked it. It is my favorite place. I will see you tomorrow." I feel like I am always watching him walk away. I need to go see my brother. I made my way to my penthouse. As soon as I walked in, I saw my brother dancing in his underwear. Yuck, I could have gone without ever seeing that sight. I clear my throat and he spins around to face me. He rubs the back of his neck while I give him a disgusted look. "Hey sis, I didn't expect to see you today." "Do I need to notify you when I plan to stop by my own penthouse to see my brother, Nathaniel?" He shakes his head and smiles while pulling up some shorts as I give him some privacy. "You came to see me? That makes me so happy my big sister wanting to see me." "So I am sure you know the party to celebrate our 19th birthday is coming up. Are you going to be attending said party from the shadows?" "Of course I will be there lurking in the shadows. I mean it is our birthday." I laughed. "I am looking forward to it, Brother. This will be the first celebration we have attended together in years. I can't wait to see how well you blend in." "Oh, sis, no one in the inner circle has seen me since I was a child and I am sure they would not recognize you if you did not show up in front of their faces often enough." "True, but what of our parents? I am sure they will recognize you. You are their son after all." "Me and you look similar, but less now. They would have to actually get a good look at me and I know my lack of importance to them will allow me to mingle freely. As long as no one calls me out by my true name, I am in the clear. You are the only one to remember my full name. Everyone else has forgotten about me." "So you say. Then what do you go by if not by your full name?" He grins. "Something that would make our parents have a heart attack." I spoke in an amused voice. "Do not tell me you go by the nickname Nate?" He nodded with an evil smirk. This makes me double over with laughter. My mother had a college boyfriend. His name was Nate and my father hated him. My mom fought hard to name my brother Nathaniel. My father got even because his college girlfriend's name was Isa, so he fought to name me Lisa but I ended up with my current name. That is how certain nicknames are forbidden in our household. That is why him going by that nickname is so evil. What my mother does not know is that I know my mother is still in contact with her college sweetheart. She loved him and if it weren't for the arranged marriage between families, I know she would have married him. I also know my father is messing with his female assistant, Helen, and I also have 2 half siblings and that my dad just hired a new part-time employee who is one of my half siblings. She is a 16-year-old girl. I had half a mind to set her up with Austin just to have time alone with Declan, but she is so timid and shy that any sudden movements make her skiddish. "You okay sis? You look like you have something on your mind and it is bothering you." I sighed and asked. "Did you only ever keep tabs on me or did you do it for our parents too?" He scoffs. "Why would I want to know anything about them? They almost ruined all of my childhood and tried to control my life." I looked away. If he truly does not know, then I am not about to tell him everything that has been going on. I know one day this information will be useful. Being rich does have some perks, but also has a lot of disadvantages as well. "I was just curious. I had better leave before they get suspicious and send a security detail to find me. I do not want them to know about this place." "They could just track you by phone or car." I giggled out "Money can buy expensive things, even things that make it look like I am somewhere that I am not." He chuckled. "I have so much to learn from you, sis." I winked at him while giving a devious smile and took my leave. I am ready for this day to end. It seems to have gone on forever and I am exhausted. I made it home. As soon as I entered, my phone started to ring. I looked at my phone and rolled my eyes when I saw the caller was Austin. 'Hello Austin, how can I be of assistance at this time of night?' 'Hello beautiful, I hope I am not disturbing you, but I was hoping to ask if it would be okay with you, if I planned the date instead of your assistant planning the date. I can let you and your assistant know when and where I plan the date if you don't mind. I thought it would be easier this way as well as more meaningful if one of us planned this date personally. I know you are both extremely busy and I have some free time on my hands, which means I can plan the best date since I already know what you like. I will make this date a date you will never forget.' 'Hmm, I guess that would be okay. I will have my assistant message you some dates and times where I am available according to my schedule.' 'Okay, that sounds good, beautiful. I will await the message then. I will see you soon and I wish you a pleasant night.' I hung up as he finished his last word. No need for me to wish anything for him. The conversation had me overthinking. Why did he keep mentioning the word date? And why was he so persistent about it being better if one of us arranged everything? Something was off about that whole conversation. Since when does he have free time, did he not add more activities to his daily schedule? All of a sudden, I hear arguing coming from the family living area. I guess I will have to think about the conversation later. I quickly made my way to the living area and saw my parents glaring at each other and yelling. What are they even doing here? They are never home. They live elsewhere, like with their second families. I whistled and shouted "Quiet." They stopped yelling and looked at me shocked. "Can you please tell me what you are both doing here? And why are you both yelling and arguing like children under this roof?" My father coughs slightly before speaking. "Well, we live here sweetheart. I am sorry you had to hear our little episode but me and your mother cannot seem to be in agreement with the offer we recently received." My mother huffs but stays silent. "Hmm, you say you live here, but when was the last time you slept in this cold empty place? I know you both know that I know you do not sleep here and you rarely ever walk through the doors of this mansion. I also know you have no wardrobe here. So I find it rather odd that you decided to have the little episode here when you know I am here daily due to one of the contracts not allowing me to live elsewhere. What is the argument about maybe I can help, so you can leave and take the noise with you?" My father looks at me stunned, while my mother speaks sharply. "Ana, that is not how you should be speaking to us. There is no need for you to worry about our arguments because we will solve them ourselves. We are your parents. It is not the other way around. We know what is best for you." My father added in a softer voice. "Do not worry, we have already reached an agreement. Your mother is right. We know what is best for you. Go rest sweetheart. I know you had a long day. You must be exhausted." He gave my mother a certain look and she smiled a smile of victory. "Good night to both of you. Please lock the door on your way out whenever you leave to go wherever it is you go to." I will continue to act naive but I will find out what that argument was about. Today has been so weird. I go to my room and, as I think about what my parents said, I find it funny how my father calls me sweetheart in front of my mother and Lisa when she is not within earshot. At the same time, the same conversation makes me feel a level of unease. Something weird is going on and I need to find out before I am blindsided. I sent a text 'Any updates on what I asked you to look into?' I received an immediate response. 'Yes, I will send you an email with all the details the day after tomorrow sometime in the morning. I want to make sure I am not missing anything', I replied back. 'Okay.'
