April's POV
By dinner, Dax had reached a breaking point. My constant pacing proving to be too much.
“Will you stop, you’re wearing a hole in the floor. Set the table and make yourself useful.”
Being the mature and rational adult I am, I stuck my tongue out at him before going to set the table.
Jasper gave me a wave as he rushed down the stairs, his hair still dripping wet from his bath. Cas a few feet behind, chasing him with a semi damp towel.
“Stop, you little demon. You’re not even dressed.”
With a laugh, I shook my head. Jasper has Cas wrapped around his little finger. He never dared to act like that with Dax or our father or even me. But uncle Cas was fair game.
Cas glared at me before following the streaking pup.
I set the table before going back into the kitchen to find Kody sitting at the island as Dax finished cooking the spaghetti for dinner.
Kody’s eyes shifted to me as I entered the room, a smirk on his face.
“What’s going on?”
“I have no idea what you mean.” I lied.
“Oh really? Because you’ve been wearing out the carpet. I am not replacing it again.”
“I have not!” I argued, glaring.
He snorted. “You’re literally pacing right now.”
With a huff, I stopped. Sitting on the stall beside him.
“Am not.”
With a raised eyebrow, he stared at me, waiting for an answer.
He can wait all he wants, my lips are sealed.
Cas groaned as he stepped into the kitchen. “He’s a demon, I swear he has it out for me.”
Thank you goddess for interrupting brothers.
Kody shook his head, a small smile on his lips.
“That’s my son you’re insulting.”
“I know the demon takes after his father, the devil.”
Kody lunged for him, putting him in a choke hold easily.
I couldn’t help but laugh as Cas whined and struggled helplessly. Kody let out a triumphant cry, his arm still around Cas.
A booming laugh had us all turning to the door. Our father stood in the door, Jasper in his arms. Now fully dressed in his pyjamas.
“I think your Dad is more of a child than you.”
Kody let go of Cas, playfully glaring at his son when Jasper nodded to his grandpa.
“I’m your father, you can’t make fun of me. That’s my job.”
Kody grabbed his son, tickling him as he squirmed and giggled.
“Do you admit defeat?” Kody said, still tickling the pup as he squirmed helplessly.
“Yes, yes.” He squealed.
With a laugh, Kody put Jasper down.
“Go wash your hands, dinners almost ready.”
With a nod, he rushed out of the kitchen.
Cas groaned. “Come on, why does he listen to you?”
“Because I’m his father and he respects me.”
Cas snorted. “No, really why? Do you bribe him? What is it, chocolate, cupcakes, money?”
Ignoring them, I turned to Dax, grabbing plates filled with garlic bread and cheese. Taking them to the table.
Jasper came in as I set the plates down, his eyes locked on the massive pile of garlic bread.
“Sit, Dax is plating the rest up.”
As he sat, he gave me his usual puppy dog eyes and stuck out bottom lip. Begging for food.
Damn pup.
“You know the rules, no food until we are all sat down.” I said, loud enough the others could hear as I grabbed a slice of garlic bread and handed it to him with a wink.
He shoved the entire thing in his mouth barely chewing before he swallowed.
The others all walked in, plates of food in their hands as they sat around the table.
We all ate, chatting about our day.
