Ten minutes later we’re in the living room, sitting on the floor with a tray of food on the table in front of us. As we eat, Christopher walks us down memory lane, reminiscing about our past. He remembers everything. From the first day in the library, to the time he burned an entire batch of food at the restaurant trying to help out on a Saturday morning when one of our servers had called in sick. I turned the television on to provide background noise to fill in any lull in the conversation, but there are none, and soon it’s like we’re back in high school again, talking like old times. Even when we get tired of talking and focus on the movie instead, the easy comfort is there. When the movie ends and the credits begin to roll, we both stare straight ahead. The DVD player blinks 1:21 a.m.
