I watched as Rhys pressed his hands against the tree, flinching slightly as the fire licked up the sides of his arms. I know he said before that it didn’t hurt him, but after watching him nearly get electrocuted I was still on edge. I tried to stop worrying about him by peering around the tree at the vampires and witches below. They hadn’t scattered, despite the fact that the tree was slightly hanging down over them, but instead, they were standing around underneath the flaming tree pointing at it in wonder. A few of them were laughing like little kids, throwing their arms out wide and up into the air to indicate the lightning hitting the tree and the explosion, as if it really was completely natural. They were stupid, all of them. I didn’t understand why they were just standing
