I chased after Rhys through the dark stairwell, falling over my feet as I tried to run and kick my shoes off at the same time. I tripped over Rhys’s shoes, slipped on a sock, fell down onto my hands and knees on the stairs, and pressed my hand down on a stair as Rhys’s laughter echoed from somewhere in the hallway upstairs. It was weird, stairs that were soft under my fingers, but I wasn’t going to question that right now.
