Chapter Fourteen When she was in one of her generous moods, Willa wondered what it would be like to live with Sid indefinitely. Putting the matter of the house aside – as if such a huge issue could be ignored – how difficult would it be? For the sake of her husband’s back and their pride, she and Norm would have to reclaim the master bedroom. And there would have to be rules. The old man clung to that whiskey bottle like a toddler to a pacifier, and he always seemed to be tippling from it. But she’d never seen him drunk. Then again, she supposed when he was at his worst it would be the liquor talking. But like a lot of lame old ducks, when he’d had too much, he simply fell asleep. He was eccentric and irritable – to put it kindly – but she wondered how he’d look cleaned up as she imagined
