Evangeline followed Benjamin's car with her eyes. She sighed and turned to look at Alan. It had been four months since she found him cheating with his partner. Four months later, she loathed herself for trusting him. Of course, she's still hurt, not because she still has feelings for him, but because of the damage he's done by breaking her trust.
"Can we talk in another place?" Alan asked, ending the awkward silence between them. "A small café just opened a few blocks from here," he told her, but she did not receive a response from Evie.
She took his bag and walked to the exit. "Let's go," she said in a grumpy tone before walking ahead.
