Freya
“Is she dead?" I opened my eyes to meet four peering eyes looking down at me.
“She is alive. She must be an imposter." One of them muttered, frowning at me.
“How sure are you?" The other argued.
“She f*****g fell from the sky!" The other one screamed, throwing his hands in the air as he bickered with his friend. The other two just stared quietly at me as if trying to process my very being.
I sat up instantly, remembering what happened and the death of my mother.
“Where is this?" I asked one of the two that were still scrutinizing me.
They weirdly stared at me and turned away like I had not spoken to them. The other two kept on bickering until a deep grumpy voice rumbled from behind.
“What is going on here?"
The hair at the back of my neck rose, his voice sent a chill down my spine. It was so deep and terrifying at the same time.
The four who were arguing stood at attention and went completely silent. I glanced from my shoulder and a zap coursed through my body when I made eye contact with the man who had commanded the silence.
“Professor Grant, we apologize for the nuisance. We were only debating on what to do to the imposter who snuck into the school compound," the guy who started the argument explained.
I was left speechless, not by his accusation. But because of the man who stood before me. I was shockingly mesmerized by his presence and his strong build that formed under his cashmere turtle neck top.
‘He definitely works out all the time.' I blushed at my thoughts.
He stared back at me and I felt my palms begin to sweat. My hands instinctively rubbed down on my clothes when he ran his eyes up and down my body condescendingly.
It was then I realized that I was covered in dirt and my mother's blood, looking like a real imposter.
“What are you?" He asked and my heart skipped.
“I...um..." I stuttered. Great. I couldn't even speak coherently.
“Where did you say she came from?" He asked the bickering guy.
“She fell from the sky, professor," he answered and the professor furrowed his brows in disbelief.
I swear, I don't know how I got here but if I am told to return I won't like to. Besides, death is awaiting me at my pack and I have to find out the truth to clear my family's name.
“Throw her out if she has no roots. And seal the gates from future imposters," he ordered and I dropped down on my knees.
“Please wait, I was sent here. My mother gave me this pendant and..." I explained but one of the boys snatched the pendant from me and stared at it with his eyes wide open.
“You are Freya Davenport," he said with a surprised look on his face.
I am Freya but not Davenport. “Um...sorry..." I tried to correct him but he bowed all of sudden and the rest followed.
“Welcome to Egret academy your highness. Please forgive us for not recognizing you immediately." The bickering guy sized my appearance with judging eyes.
I was utterly confused by the sudden change of attitude, surname and the title.
They must be mistaken about my identity. I tried explaining to them but the arrival of someone caught my attention.
A white Mercedes pulled up at the front gate and the person who came out of the car was none other than Lilia butterworth.
My mood changed at the sight of her and the anger that burned in my chest because of her betrayal rekindled.
‘What the hell is she doing here?' I thought in my mind as I watched her ascend the long stairs.
“Lady Butterworth, welcome to Egret academy. We were expecting your arrival," they greeted in unison.
‘Did they just say Egret academy?' I muttered in my mind.
She smiled like a stupid brat and walked past me to meet the professor.
I frowned when she didn't say a word to me or even act like she knew me. Was she pretending not to know me or does she intend to act like a kind p***y to win these people's favor?
My question got answered when she bowed to me. “Forgive me you highness. I did not notice you in that outfit." She pointed at my dirty clothes.
My eyes widened in surprise from her estranged behavior. Does she not actually recognize me?
Thinking back, I remembered my mother's words of not being recognized by anyone. Her spell actually worked.
“No offence taken. Please I would love to get a change of clothes," I said. Since no one recognized me, I would take this chance to discover the truth but my real question is which royal family do I belong to?
“Professor Grant, I am glad to finally meet you. I have dreamed of being a student of Egret academy and I finally got the chance at winning Alpha Vincent's favor. My father is Beta Fallon, he is..." She was still introducing herself, when the professor turned away from her and stopped before me.
“You are coming with me." He grabbed my arm and dragged me into the gigantic building.
Due to his quick movements I was unable to observe the enchanting interior of the building enough. He pushed two large doors open and dragged me effortlessly.
“I told you not to come here didn't I ?" He grumbled coldly.
I didn't understand what he meant and stared at him in confusion.
“Excuse me, I don't know what you are talking about. If you can explain to me..." I trailed off when he grabbed my neck and slammed my back against the doors.
“Don't act stupid with me, Freya. Haven't I made it clear to you? I won't accept your father's marriage proposal. I don't need an incompetent girl as my arranged wife," he blurted out and my mouth dropped open in surprise.
Oh my goddess, my new identity is betrothed to a charming professor in Egret academy.
