I didn't say anything for a moment, just stood there and let what she had said settle properly before I responded to any of it.
She hadn't come to Draven because of the school. She hadn't come because of the curriculum or the reputation or any of the reasons people usually ended up here.
She had come because of a name she had found somewhere in the buried history of a bloodline most people didn't even know existed, because she had been carrying the same weight I had been carrying and had run out of places to take it, and because she had made the same choice I had made and needed to know if that choice had consequences she hadn't felt yet.
I understood that more than she probably realized.
"Tell me about Elias."
