*EPISODE 61: THE THIRD FOSTER PLACEMENT*
Call came in March.
"Siblings. 4 and 6. Need placement together. 2 weeks."
Lina and Daniel said yes before they finished the sentence.
Amara and Eli arrived with matching backpacks and matching silence.
First night Eli wet the bed. Cried for an hour.
Lina sat on the floor next to him and told stories until he slept.
Amara wouldn’t eat. Daniel made her pancakes in the shape of dinosaurs.
Two weeks turned into 3 months.
Case worker: "Foster-to-adopt?"
Lina and Daniel looked at each other.
"Yes," they said.
Paperwork started that week.
*EPISODE 62: THE RELAPSE AND THE RECOVERY*
Bad spring.
Lina’s joints flared for 19 days straight.
Wheelchair. Cane. Couldn’t cook. Couldn’t drive.
Daniel took 2 weeks off.
He learned her med schedule. He learned to braid Amara’s hair.
He burned dinner 4 times.
On day 20 Lina walked to the mailbox.
Shaky. 30 seconds.
Daniel filmed it.
"That’s enough," he said.
"That’s everything," she said.
That night Amara climbed into their bed.
"Are you okay, Mama Lina?"
Lina pulled her close. "I’m okay. And I’m here."
*EPISODE 63: THE LEGACY INTERVIEW*
_60 Minutes_ asked for one last interview.
"Final one. Promise."
Lina said yes.
They filmed at the foundation. No makeup.
Question: "What do you want your legacy to be?"
Lina thought.
"That I stopped performing and started living. That I told the truth. That I built something that outlives me."
It aired.
Daniel watched from the couch with Amara on his lap.
When it ended Amara said, "That’s my mama."
Daniel kissed her head. "Yeah. That’s our mama."
*EPISODE 64: THE ADOPTION FINALIZED*
Courtroom. Small.
Judge: "Do you, Lina Hart Cole, and Daniel Cole, wish to adopt Amara and Eli?"
"Yes," they said together.
Gavel.
Amara and Eli got new last names.
Cole.
After, in the parking lot, Eli said, "Does this mean you’re stuck with us?"
Lina picked him up. "It means we’re stuck with each other. Forever."
Daniel took a photo. All four of them.
It went on the fridge. Next to the letter from Ohio.
*EPISODE 65: THE LAST BOARD MEETING*
Daniel turned 45.
He walked into the Walmart boardroom and put down a letter.
"I’m stepping down as CEO. In 6 months."
Silence.
"I’m going to be COO. Remote. And I’m going to run the foundation with my wife."
One board member: "You’re throwing away billions."
Daniel: "I’m choosing what I can’t buy back."
They approved it.
He came home and told Lina.
She cried. Then laughed.
"You’re really doing it."
"I am," he said. "We are."
*EPISODE 66: THE FIVE YEARS SINCE DIAGNOSIS*
Anniversary.
5 years since the hospital. Since the collapse.
Lina went to the foundation alone.
Sat in an empty room.
Wrote in her journal: _I’m still here. I’m still me. I’m loved._
Daniel took her to dinner that night. Just them.
No phones.
"I’m proud of you," he said.
"I’m proud of us," she said.
They drove home with the windows down.
Amara and Eli were with the sitter.
For the first time in 5 years, Lina felt zero fear about tomorrow.
*EPISODE 67: THE EPILOGUE*
3 years later.
_Lina Hart Health Project_ is in 22 cities.
Daniel is COO. Home by 5pm every day.
Amara is 9. Eli is 7. Both call her Mama.
Lina still does 4 events a year. Sitting down.
She wrote a book. _Rest Is The Work._ Bestseller.
One morning she’s in the kitchen. Pancakes.
Daniel’s making coffee. Kids are fighting over the syrup.
Sunny is under the table.
Lina looks around.
No cameras. No scripts. No pretending.
Daniel comes up behind her. Kisses her shoulder.
"You okay?"
Lina smiles. Real smile.
"I’m more than okay. I’m home."
