I was slipping.
No, that wasn’t right.
I had already slipped.
From the moment Mary Blackwood married Andrew De La Cruz, everything inside me had started unraveling, thread by agonizing thread. I had told myself that it didn’t matter, that Andrew didn’t belong to me, that I had no right to be this furious over something that had never been mine in the first place.
