The silence after Andrew's arrival was suffocating, I felt like I was been pressed by a truck load of emotions, it felt hard to breathe.
I could feel the crackle in the air, like lightning trapped inside a room with no place to strike.
Nicolas hadn’t moved. Neither had Andrew. Two statues carved from the same storm, spawned from the same cave of pain and ghost of their past.
I stood between them, caught in the gravity of something I didn’t understand.
Something far beyond my control.
Nicolas turned his head first. Slowly. Like the gesture itself was a gift. He looked at Andrew with calm detachment, as if seeing a long-lost friend who had never mattered.
"Brother," he said, with a smile too empty to be real.
