Mary POV.
The room went silent except for the sound of Sofia's crying.
"What?" I whispered.
"My daughter, Lily," Sofia said, her voice shaking so badly I could barely understand her. "She's five years old. She has blonde hair and green eyes and she loves to draw pictures of butterflies. She's the sweetest, most innocent little girl in the world. And Elijah has her."
My anger started to fade, replaced by horror. "How?"
Sofia wiped her eyes with her sleeve. "It happened three months ago. I was working for another family before Andrew hired me. One day, I picked Lily up from school, and she was fine. Happy. We went to the park. I turned my back for one second to buy her an ice cream, and when I turned around, she was gone."
