The energy in the room was a sad one, the atmosphere was bittersweet as the hour drew closer. My hand reached out to Allison's hand as I gave her a gentle squeeze. Her eyes met mine, the sadness pronounced as she fought back tears. "Hey, this isn't forever" I tried to console her. "I know, it just sucks that you'll be gone for a while" she replied, a tear betraying her brave front as it rolled down her cheek.
