Beep! Beep!
"Urghh." I say as I shut off the alarm clock and sluggishly roll out of bed. I honestly do not want to leave my room today, but I have a class by 9am and it's already 6:30am. So I drag my lazy ass to the bathroom, brushed my teeth, and took a quick shower. After that, I went over to my walk-in closet and picked out a black jergin and blue hoodie. Bailey usually hates seeing me dress this way, cause according to her, it makes me even more invisible and I'm actually okay with that cause I do not like any sort of attention.
I put on my clothes and brush through my hair. So here's the thing, I'm part African(country will not be mentioned), so I have a 4C natural hair that gives me a very hard time. I think of cutting it off most of the time or at least relaxing it, but a lot of people wouldn't forgive me if I did so I just try and endure the pain.
After debating on which hairstyle would look good on me, I decided to go with a fro. I put on my black canverse, and picked up my bag.
"Hey biatch!" Bailey said as I walked into the kitchen. "Where're you heading to?"
I put a kettle of water on the stove and turn around to face her. "Where does it look like I'm going too?"
"Back into your room cause you're not leaving this house looking like this". She says accessing my dressing.
I turn back to the stove, pour myself a cup of coffee and take a deep breath...
"I don't have time for this Bailey, I'm too tired to be awake and I have to head to class, so zip it". I say in annoyance.
She looks at me pissed and walks away, to her room and then she shouts, "And you wonder why you're single" and bangs the door.
Yikes! Maybe I was a little too harsh, but low blow Bailey. I love the way I dress, comfortability over impressiveness and I believe anyone who'd like me should be able to accept me that way..
Besides, being single is a personal choice and not the other way round.
I quickly drop my cup in the sink and head out..
****
Two classes and 20minutes of sleep later, I begin to head home. The clouds look heavy and since I'm walking , I try to pickup my pace so I won't get wet.
I don't like the rain. It stops me from meeting the love of my life, sleep. I literally find it so hard to sleep when it's raining but I can sleep with any other sound no matter how loud. Weird right? I know. Welcome to my world.
I need to get myself a job, cause I barely go to class and sleep wouldn't be a good thing to put on a résumé.
The rain starts pouring and I run into a building. The smell of freshly baked bread hits my nose and my tummy grumbles. Yum! Food! I look around and realise I'm in a bakery that looks very impressive, and at the counter , their are different pastries being displayed.
There is barely anyone here except for an old couple eating muffins and 3 girls gossiping at a corner. I walk up to the counter and no one's there, and I turn around in confusion not knowing what to do. I notice a bell and hit it once.
"Coming!" a masculine voice shouts and I just wait. I turn around and admire the old couple from afar. My heart aches, but then I console myself with the fact that I'll find someone to love me eventually. I sigh with a smile on my face.
"I'm so sorry for keeping you waiting ."
I turn around to meet a pair of emerald green eyes. He's smiling at me, and the dimples are just too much. I shamelessly rake his body with my eyes and notice that he's built, and with the way his shirt and apron sit tightly on him, I'm so sure he has abs. Not that I'm an abs person but damn! And his hair is stylishly messy.
He pushes his light brown hair out of his face and leans on the counter, "What would you like to have?" he asks with that hypnotizing smile.
"Mad!" I say and quickly slap a hand over my mouth.
"Excuse me?" I he asks with a chuckle and lifts his brow questionably.
" I'm so sorry, uhmm, what do you have?" I ask averting my attention to the delicious pastries in front of me.
"I like that one please.." I say pointing at a piece of chocolate lava cake.
"Alright. Are you having it to go or you'd rather devour it here?" He says jokingly..
I think about it. If I take it home, Bailey would be the one to 'devour' it. But if I eat it here, I can have it all to myself. Greedy I know, ?but it's chocolate lava cake for peeps sake. Give me a rest.
I smile at him, "I'll like to have it here please".
"Cool! Have a seat and I'll bring it to you". He says and goes back to where I suppose is the kitchen.
I walk up to a table at the far end of the bakery and take a seat. I look out the window and it's raining cats and dogs. I wouldn't wanna be out there.
"Here you go.." He says as he places a plate of cake in front of me.
"Thank you." I say with a smile. I rub my hands together ready to dive in when I notice he's still standing beside me. "Uhhh, hi?"
"Sorry, wanted to ask if you want anything to drink". He says with a child-like grin.
"Coffee?" I say which actually sounded more like a question. "Creamy!" I add more assertively.
"Coming right up".He says and then leaves.
After some time, he comes back with my coffee and sets it on this table.
"Thanks". I say and dig into my cake.
"Are you from around here?" He startles me and I almost drop my coffee.
"s**t!"
"Sorry". He chuckles, "Didn't mean to startle you".
"No problem".
"So, you from here?"
"Oh! No... Just moved here for school".
"Nice". He says and stands awkwardly beside me. "Uhmm, I'm Brian by the way".
I smile and look up at him, "I'm Cathy".
"Cathy... Beautiful name for a beautiful girl".
I laugh. Out loud.
"Are you flirting?"
He blushes at my question, "Is it working?"
"Is it part of customer service?"
"Yes!"
"Well then, it's definitely working". I say with a smile.
"Uhmm, can I get your number?" he asks hopefully
"Nope!" I pick up my bag, "I'll see you some other time Brian". I say and walk out of the bakery. Forgetting that it's still pouring out.
