Who is she ?

His gaze lingered on me longer than it should, maybe I shouldn’t have tried to fight that dust ball in the first place. But I had something to prove and I did, however I didn’t even notice Damian or how long he had been watching. “Well I, I used to watch the men in my other pack fight and I learnt a thing or two.” His brow arched upwards as though he wasn’t fully convinced. “ And you’re able to take down one of my strongest men just by…watching?” I felt sweat beads fall off my forehead, had he noticed something I didn’t ? I swallowed hard thinking of a new lie to whip up, when Natalie popped out of the blue. “ There you are,” she said, running towards me. “ I’ve been looking for you everywhere…we need your help in the kitchen. Everything has been paused because they are awaiting your guidance.” “ My guidance?” I repeated. “ Yes come on let’s hurry, food needs to be served.” I took a glance at Damian, who nodded his head in approval and I sighed a breath of relief. Natalie led the way to the kitchen and once we stepped in it smelt and looked like nothing but chaos. “ Thank goodness you found her,”one of them breathed. “ What seems to be the issue?” I asked, looking around. “ Well, Amina tried to make a soup in honor of our former Luna..she taught us how to make it and we figured it would cheer people up but she burned it and it tastes awful. Mirambel and Cassandra over seasoned everything and let me not get started with Lily. And since you helped us the other night we strongly believe you might know what to do…” The place was indeed chaotic , did my girls all forget how to cook because I wasn’t around? I wasn’t going to judge them anyways because they tried their level best and possibly my death shook them all. On the other hand, I knew how to correct everything and we did it one step at a time. We started with the soup of course it was my very own recipe and them still carrying it on in my absence made my heart melt. We proceeded to correct the other meals and in half an hour everything was complete. The entire kitchen uploaded and cheered my name, “ Aria,Aria, Aria…” I felt my tears start to form, these people meant a lot to me and just seeing them be so welcoming and supportive made my chest swell with pride because I taught them well. “ No way,” I turned to see Natalie’s eyes wide open with a spoon in her mouth, she looked stunned and impressed at the same time. “ It tastes exactly like how our Luna would make it.” The rest took a spoon each and tasted it, all their eyes now glued on me. “ How…how did you do it?” “ It took us 2 years to try to perfect this and you did it even without looking at the recipe…Who are you ?” How I wished I could just say , ‘ Hey it’s me your Luna Lydia to them.’ Instead I just scoffed, “ I was always in the kitchen in my other pack, and when food gets ruined I’d always try to make sure it an edible so maybe when I tasted it I knew exactly what to put in it.” Mirambel pouted her lips, her eyes glistening with tears. “ If Luna were here she’d have been.. so… so happy to have you around.” Silence fell upon the kitchen, then Natalie said something that made my skin crawl. “ Today is the last day her body will be in this pack. “ I furrowed my brows confused, “ What do you mean ?” “ Her body will be burnt at sunset, and her ashes will be given to her family. Everything that belonged to her will also be burnt.” “ What, why?” “ It’s a very sensitive topic to talk about, but we’d love it if you attended the funeral with us.” I was going to watch my body, my own body get burnt to ashes… and there would absolutely be nothing I could do to stop them or ask them to preserve me instead. I wonder whose idea it was to burn me alive…either way I still had to find out why Kael did what he did to me and I wouldn’t rest till I did so I agreed to attend my own funeral. The girls and I hurried to serve the food in the dining hall, everyone participated. Natalie told me we had guests over till the funeral ended and little did I know that those guests were my family. The first time I came here as Aria I saw my own mother bawling her eyes out and there’s nothing I could do but just watch. Who would want a random stranger to console them about their own daughter, a person they’d never met before. Everything was set and we headed back to the kitchen and cleaned up. Natalie expressed her gratitude, “ and… we’re going to have a small eat together outside all of us, before the funeral. You need to be there too.” Small eat together was not small at all, it meant food, lots of it. And that wasn’t going to be good for me or my body. I needed to get in shape and stay fit going forward, I wasn’t going to stay like this. “ I’m sorry Natalie but I think I’ll sit this one out.” “ C’mon Aria, we need you there, we couldn't have pulled this off without you and you’re now one of us.” She walked towards me and took my hand. “ I have a feeling you’re worried about your diet. You don’t have to eat much if you don’t want to.” She said as though she read my mind . “ Okay , I’ll be there.” I replied and she smiled, squeezing my hand. We went to our quarters and got changed. I picked a long black dress that fell into a flared skirt that reached my toes, with long sleeves and floral embroidery. Perfect for a funeral, Damian really knew what he was doing when he picked them for me. I walked outside and everyone was already gathered there, Natalie waved at me and I walked towards the blanket they sat on. I wasn’t joking when I said small eat together was never small, there was a table full of food enough to feed 10 houses, on the bright side I taught them to give away the food when they couldn’t finish it. I sat beside her, the atmosphere was full of love … no segregation or bullying or hatred amongst themselves. Natalie raised a glass to toast in my honor. “ If Luna Lydia was here she’d have been so proud of each and everyone of you here I have a feeling that she’d have loved Aria so much, she may not be here right now but she’ll live on in our hearts forever… to Luna Lydia.” “ To Luna Lydia,” they all responded, raising their glasses. The atmosphere was now filled with laughter and chatter, when the back door swung open with full force. “ Who is she,” were the words he uttered followed by the stomping of heavy footsteps. “ Where is she? Who made this freaking soup ?”
