I stepped out of the bathroom, rubbing a towel over my damp hair. The steam from the hot shower was still hanging in the warm air and the moment I walked toward my bed , I almost got startled by the figure that was in my room.
Silver was sitting on the edge of the mattress, waiting for me.
She wore a soft, silky robe, her legs crossed as she watched me walk towards her and a small, satisfied smile played on her red lips.
"You took your time," she said, her voice smooth and low. She stood up slowly, letting the robe slip slightly off one shoulder as she walked toward me. "I missed you today Kael, you've been so busy with that servant , I haven't been able to spend some time with you.”
"Silver," I said, my voice filled with exhaustion. "I have a lot of work to do tonight. The council files for tomorrow are still not sorted, and..."
"Forget the council for five minutes," she interrupted walking up to me. She reached out, her fingers pressing against my chest as she circled my damp skin with them. "You are always working and you are always stressed. Sometimes just let me take care of you."
I stared down at her , I knew what she meant but I felt nothing. No spark, no real desire or arousal… just a dull, aching emptiness that had been sitting in my chest for weeks. But I did not pull away. I never pulled away from Silver anymore…I knew better than to push her when she was in a mood like this.
She looked up into my eyes, her hand sliding down my chest, over my stomach and landed on my waist where the towel hung. She gave me a slow, knowing look before dropping gracefully to her knees right in front of me. Her fingers danced around my waist until she finally ripped the towel off.
She took my c**k into her hand and stroked it up and down with a huge smile on her face. She looked me straight in the eyes and took me into her mouth without hesitation. The warmth of her mouth made me let out a breath I didn’t know i was holding , and her lips wrapped firmly around my c**k with practiced ease, this wasn’t the first time she did this.
She moved her head in a steady, slow rhythm with one of her hand stroking and playing with my balls , while the other rested on my thigh as she sucked on me. I threw my head back , closing my eyes tight trying to feel sensation but my mind was completely detached from the moment.
Silver worked faster, swirling her tongue over my tip and taking me deeper, her breath warm against my skin as she forced my c**k to respond. The heat of her throat sent a chill throughout my body, but for some reason I didn't feel like I was going to release anytime soon. I closed my eyes, trying to be in the moment…but instead I saw her.
I saw dark hair spread out across my pillows. I saw soft brown eyes looking up at me and heard a gentle voice whispering and calling out my name.
The sensation peaked and rushed throughout my veins like fire and before my mind could stop the slip of my tongue, the word tore right out of my throat.
"Oh Lydia..."
Silver stopped instantly.
The warm pressure vanished as she pulled back so fast she nearly lost her balance, scrambling back with her face twisted in pure rage.
"What did you just say?" She asked, wiping her mouth like she ate something foul.
I opened my eyes, my chest heaving as the reality of what i said hit me . Iooked down at her, but I could not bring myself to say a word. I just stood there, wrapping my towel back around my waist with shaking hands.
"What did I tell you last timeKael?" Silver screamed, getting up from her knees, her eyes were wide and furious. "Why on earth would you even mention her? Why are you thinking about that ghost while I am on my knees for you?"
"Silver, I..."
"Shut up!" she snapped, her hands trembling with anger as she pulled her robe back over her shoulders. "Why don't you get it ? She is dead kael you need to move on… she is gone and you are still breathing right in front of me.”
I kept quiet and ket her harsh words rain down on me because I had no defense. She was right about one thing. Lydia was gone, and her ghost was tearing me apart from the inside out every single day. My mind was constantly with her, wandering back to the quiet nights we shared, the way she smelled like rain and strawberries, the way she looked at me like I was the only man in the world.
"Look at you," Silver spat, her voice dripping with venom as she looked me up and down. "You are the Alpha of this pack, and you look like a pathetic, broken dog. I am the one standing by your side now and I am the one keeping this pack together while you mourn a traitor!"
"Do not call her that," I said quietly, my voice dropping into a low, dangerous tone.
"She WAS a traitor!" Silver yelled back, stepping right into my face. "And if you keep obsessing over her, everyone is going to realize how weak you actually are. Is that what you want.. you want, you want the council to throw you out?"
I stared at the floor, my hands clenching into fists at my sides.
Silver took a deep breath, smoothing down her hair with shaking fingers as her tone shifted from wild rage to a calculated threat.
"Tomorrow morning, everything goes," Silver said, her voice deathly quiet now. "Every paper, every book, every picture, every single item in those archives that belonged to Lydia must be burnt. It must all be trashed. Do you hear me?"
I looked up at her, my heart sinking into my stomach. "Silver, those are official pack records..."
"I do not care about your records!" She hissed, leaning in close until her cold breath brushed my ear. "You burn every last trace of her, Kael. Or else..."
She pulled back, looking into my eyes with a chilling, wicked smile.
"Or else the vision I saw will happen," Silver whispered softly. "Do you remember what I saw, Kael? Do you remember what happens to you, to your pack, and to your throne if the truth about that night ever comes out?"
The memory of her prophecy, the dark warning she had given me a week before I murdered Lydia pressed down on my chest like a weight. It was the reason I was trapped. It was the reason I let Silver pull my strings like a puppet and the reason I killed my mate.
"I remember," I choked out, the words tasting like ash in my mouth.
"Good," Silver said, her voice returning to a sweet, pleasant pitch as if she had not just been screaming at me a second ago. "Then make sure those files are turned into ash by tomorrow. I am going back to my room. If you can't be satisfied, at least I can make myself .” She turned around, her silk robe sweeping against the floor as she walked out of the room, closing the door beind her
I stood alone in the center of the my room staring at the door. I felt hollow, sick to my stomach, and completely trapped in my own home. I turned around and lay down and squeezing my eyes shut, wishing more than anything that I could just wake up from this nightmare.
