Chapter 4
After the 3rd flight, which lasted for 4 hours, we finally arrived in Sochi. Uhg, finally! I sigh, glad that there will be no more flying, at least for a while.
Dobro pozhalovat v Russia, Thomas says happily. What I say annoyed at not understanding. Welcome to Russia, Jason says, while picking up his bags and walking past me. Uhg, I say again. Zdes' ty budesh' menya uvazhat, malen'kiy negodyay (Here you will respect me you little brat) Thomas mumbles is Russian.
What I ask again. No worries, he says with an annoyed look on his face. He puts our bags in the car and then says to the driver Poydem! I don't have all day. The driver nervously takes off driving through mountains and forests. The ride to the house feels like it's a never-ending road until we stop at a big black iron gate. Inside, I can see another long bricked path farther. I can see small wooden cottages with little gardens and trees, and then we stop in front of a bigger brick house.
I get out of the car as soon as it stops. I'm happy to finally get to stretch my legs. So where do we stay? I ask. Thomas and Jason look at each other and then laugh softly well in front of you. You will see a house Thomas replies sarcastically.
Whow, this big one is yours? Yes, he replied. My mother puts an arm around me and then says I hope this will be all you will dream of and that all your dreams will come true.
I hold her and say I hope you're happy. I am she says softly, then kisses me on my forehead. Let's unpack then, she said excitedly.
The maids take our bags and show us to our rooms while Jason and Thomas go to Thomas's office to take care of work. I wasn't sure what he did for a living or how he could afford this house, but it was none of my business either. As I walked in, I saw polished porcelain white tiles floors and mosaic tiled bathroom walls. Everything was so beautiful and open and clean.
There were hundreds of maids and gardeners and cooks. Who pays all these people? I thought to myself. The maid leading me to my room starts explaining the house rules to me, and I assume the maid leading my mother is doing the same. Never go to the top floor that is off limits to you and your mother. That is where Mister Miller works. Never disobey an order. Everyone must be in their rooms by 23h00. Shool starts on Monday, and you are expected to be at breakfast by 06h30. Eventually, she stops and opens the door for me. I entered the room and found that my belongings had already been left in the room. Thank you Patricia, I say as I take off my coat and flop down on the bed. Guess it's time to unpack, I tell myself. The room was cozy and clean with a big bed and a fireplace. In the left corner stood a dresser, and to the right 2 doors, 1 led to a private bathroom, and the other was a closet. Well, this will do. I joked as Patricia left the room.
I stare at the ceiling of my bedroom, not sure what to do next or where to start unpacking. I decided to start with my toiletries and continue until everything was finished. I felt a bit hungry, so I left my room and went to the kitchen to find something to eat, I found a chicken lasagna in the fridge and stuff 2 bites into my mouth. Do you need help, madam? Jane, the cook asks. I turn around my cheeks red with embarrassment. No, thank you, I awnser with my mouth full. I'm Jane, the cook of the house she starts babbling. She has such a happy personality, and I immediately feel so relaxed and comfortable with her.
I sit in the kitchen with her while she cooks and talks about her life and the rumors going around that my stepbrother was going to take over the house for his father soon.
I gasp how soon is soon? I ask. Well, rumor is when he comes of age next year when he turns 18, but I heard that Alpha Thomas isn't ready to let go yet.
Alpha? I ask. She changes the subject. Well, dinner will be ready soon. You better hurry and get ready she shooed me away.
I go upstairs and get ready for dinner. I put on my red mini dress and red wedges.
Dinner goes well, and we all talk and have fun, but Jason keeps to himself and stays quiet.
Over the next few months, I try to figure him out, and I get used to my life here. Thomas and I disagree on a regular basis and sometimes I swear something in his eyes change when he gets mad at me, but I cant be sure since he always just clenches his fists and leaves when my mother enters the room. My poor mom is always in the middle. Jason acts weird all the time. I caught him glaring at me and asked him what his problem was, but he stayed silent and just left.
