Maria
Mr. Strand is asleep next to me in his seat. I wanted to wake him up, but he looked so peaceful.
Maria” Mr. Strand, we are landing now. You should wake up.”
Well, great that didn’t work. Let’s try a different way to get him to wake up.
Maria:” Theo, we are here. You need to get up so I can get off of the plane.”
When I said that, he finally started to get out of his seat and stretched his arms and legs.
Maria:” You are finally awake, now we can leave the plane.”
He looked at me, then at his surroundings, then back at me. The look on his face when he finally came back to reality was so funny.
Theo:” We arrived, didn’t we?”
Maria:” Yeah, we are finally here to come on a sleepy head.”
Theo
We got off the plane and out into the lobby of the airport, but she was still laughing about me being stupid for a good 5 minutes.
Theo:” Are you done laughing yet?”
Maria:” Hold on, yeah now I am.”
Jackson
There was my little sister laughing at a tall muscular man that was right next to her. Mom did say that she was bringing her boyfriend home with her, so I am taking a guess that he is her boyfriend.
Jackson:” Maria, will you stop laughing at him? What could be so funny anyway?”
Maria looked surprised to see me, but who cares what she thinks?
Maria” Jackson, why do you always have to ruin my fun?”
Theo
Out of nowhere came a guy that was almost my height. He looked a lot like Maria, but I will let them argue a little more.
Maria:” Jackson, this is Theo, my boyfriend, Theo, this is my brother Jackson.”
Jackson:” Nice to meet you.”
He held out his hand for me to shake, but I was a bit uneasy about how he said nice to meet him.
Theo:” Nice to meet you too.”
Maria
I was standing there looking at them having a stare off with each other and not moving. Why do boys have to be so dramatic about meeting each other?
Maria:” Hello, can we get into a car and you guys can continue trying to intimidate each other later?”
When I finally spoke, they both turned their heads and noticed I was still there. Then they both started to move.
Jackson” how’s working in the big city going for you?”
Maria” good actually, but I get very busy, so there’s not a lot of time to chat.”
After I was done saying that, I looked over at Theo and his face showed guilt. I told Jackson to take the rest of our stuff to the car, and I told Theo I wanted to talk to him.
Theo” what do you need to talk about?”
Maria” Look, it was my choice not to come back, and you don’t need to feel guilty about me not having time. That’s my own doing.”
Theo
When she was talking about how she doesn’t get much time to chat with her family, I felt guilty because it was most likely my fault. She told Jackson to go put the rest of the stuff in the car. She wanted to talk to me.
Theo” what do you need to talk about?”
I guess she noticed the guilty look on my face, because she started to tell me it wasn’t my fault that she didn’t talk to them.
Jackson” are you guys going to talk all day or are you guys coming?
It was a long car ride, but the car was cozy and comfortable, but I kept wondering why she decided not to go back home and visit her family.
Jackson
I noticed how silent they both had become and the atmosphere changed.
Jackson” So how did you two meet?”
They were both in their own worlds not paying attention to anything around them. I am going to find a different way to get stuff out of them.
Jackson” so have you guys thought of getting married?”
And that was the trick. They both turned their heads and looked at me like I had two heads.
Theo” uh, no we have not discussed any of that stuff.”
Maria” why are you asking?”
Well, at least I got their attention. What to do now is the question of the hour.
Jackson:” Oh, look, we are here.”
Maria
I looked out the car window to see the three-story house I grew up in and, of course, my mom would be waiting outside.
Maria” welcome home to me.”
