Micheal could not take his eyes off Klara as he watched her walk towards him at the end of the aisle while being held by the arms by her father, she looked so beautiful than ever, like an angel. He could not also help but feel so sad. Life can really be twisted in seconds. What he thought was going to be one of his happiest moments in life have turned into sadness. He had been trying so hard to force smiles here and there that his lips hurt, he can’t really wait to be by himself without the crowd and the noise around him. Klara on the other hand could not hold her tears any longer. She had tears in her eyes as her father led her towards Micheal. The guests thought her tears were that of joy and that she was so cute, but she knew within her that it was the opposite. She looked towards her mum who gave her a big smile, she wished she could talk to her about what had happened but couldn’t. She really needed to talk to someone because everything happening around her at the moment was making her lose her mind.
Her father handed her over to Micheal the moment they got to the altar. When Micheal saw the tears in her eyes, he smirked which gave Klara a chill. She couldn’t believe that his attitude could change towards her this fast. His cold treatment towards her, the disgust on his face whenever he looked at her. 'Dear God, hope I’m not making a huge mistake. I hope everything will be fixed with time because if not, I feel I will be living in hell with the look on this man’s face and I don’t think I can cope with this for long' she prayed within her heart. “Can you stop with the tears? I know I told you to pretend in front of everyone but you are going overboard and it’s irritating my skin” Micheal whispered to her. She swallowed hard and looked away. Ada came over and dried her tears. Mark who was standing close to Micheal was the only one who understood what was truly going on betweenthe couple.
After the exchange of vows and rings, “you may now kiss the bride” the officiating priest said. Micheal looked at Klara with a smirked on his face. Her heart was beating so fast out of fear because she thought he would refuse to kiss her, thereby causing a scene 'did he say we should continue with the wedding so he could disgrace me here on the altar?' she thought to herself. Just as she was searching her brain for how she would react to whatever happens, he drew her in his arms and kissed her. 'He is kissing me!' she screamed in her head. She closed her eyes and tried to forget all the bad memories of yesterday and focus on the kiss. When she opened her eyes, she saw him looking at her with his face void of any emotion. “Don’t be so excited, this means nothing and everything I told you this morning still remains. Just think of us as actors on a movie set and that everything we do today is scripted. Remember that reality sets in when these people leave, so don’t be carried away. You irritate me…so much” he whispered to her, then forcing a sweet smile for the congregation. The crowd was in an uproar, they were shouting and clapping for the couple thinking that Micheal was whispering sweet nothings into his bride's ear after their kiss.
After hearing everything he said, Klara gasped and staggered backwards but Micheal caught her in his arms before anyone could notice, “remember you are meant to pretend Mrs Klara Obi, except you want everyone here to know how much of a w***e you are” he said mockingly. He then turned her to face the congregation as they both waved and smiled in appreciation. Looking at everyone’s faces, especially her parents’ who were beaming with joy, she decided to try her best to look happy even though she was suffocating.
During the wedding party, Klara’s friend Ada gave a maid of honour speech of how wonderful and awesome her personality is. “She forgot to mention how much of a w***e you are. Seems she doesn't know you well enough” Micheal whispered mockingly to her. He had been tormenting her with words since they sat together. She had never thought that sitting beside him could be this tormenting. They both received gifts from their friends and families, Klara’s parents gave her a car as a gift and a one week paid expense trip to Seychelles for their honeymoon. She had always told her mum how much she wanted to go to Seychelles with Micheal, but didn’t know that her parents will give her that as a gift. She loves the country and wished to go there on vacation with the man she loves, just that this time around, the man she loves despises her.
They were to leave for Seychelles in two days, so their parents stayed back after the wedding in order to see them off to the airport before leaving. They stayed in the same room and slept on the same bed, even pretended to be lovey dovey in the presence of their parents. “I can’t wait for our parents to leave so I can breathe, I can’t stand her anymore” Micheal complained to Mark on the phone. “She is now your wife Micheal, you had the chance to call off the wedding but you never did, so deal with it” Mark replied on the other end of the phone.
“Is everything okay my princess? I noticed you seem distant since after the wedding” Klara’s mother asked her. “Nothing mum, I’m just feeling overwhelmed by this new phase of life” she lied to her. Micheal seizes every opportunity to torment her emotionally and she was gradually losing her mind. They left for Seychelles two days after their wedding. Klara felt so scared, she didn’t know what Micheal might do to her now that their parents are around. She cried while saying goodbye to them, not because she would miss them, but because she was scared to be alone with Micheal. 'I cry a lot these days, I know I’ve always been so soft at heart and emotional but it seems tears are my food these days' she thought to herself. She would always cry herself to sleep the past two days and it seemed seeing her cry or sad give Micheal some form of satisfaction. She was becoming so scared of this new side of him.
