When Tom and Mark’s car approached the Vatican City, Mark rolled down his window. Out the window were magnificent and splendid papal buildings they had never seen before in their lives.
“I never felt a sense of holiness from buildings.” Mark spoke with admiration as he poked his head out the window.
“You’re seeing clearly the intentions of the architect.” Tom replied in a calm voice.
“What do you mean?” Mark replied carelessly, with his eyes still fixed outside.
“The Vatican wanted the buildings to express the authority of Christianity and the image of heaven on earth. So the present Vatican City is made up of buildings that inspire awe.”
