In a few moments, paramedics rushed into the cathedral with a stretcher. They checked for Tom"s breath and carefully carried him on the stretcher. Mark and Isabel accompanied him in the ambulance and they arrived at the hospital run by the Catholic Foundation.
The medical staff who were on standby immediately moved Tom to the operating room. After a lengthy operation of over five hours, Tom was transferred to the intensive care unit, but remained unconscious for several days.
