LUCIA POV
I ran as fast as I could, my heart pounding in my chest. I had to escape, had to get away from the Rossi brothers and their cruel plans. I dodged through the crates and boxes.
I could hear Leonardo's angry shouts and the footsteps of his men, getting closer and closer. I knew I couldn't outrun them for much longer.
I spotted a small door ahead and made a beeline for it, praying it was unlocked. I yanked it open and slipped through, finding myself in a narrow alleyway. I kept running, my breath coming in ragged gasps.
But I knew I couldn't keep this up for much longer. The Rossi brothers had too many men, and they knew this territory too well. I was trapped, with no escape.
I finally stopped, leaning against a wall to catch my breath. I knew I had to face the inevitable. The Rossi brothers would catch up to me, and I would be at their mercy.
I closed my eyes, preparing myself for the worst. I was alone, with no one to rescue me. I had to face the darkness head-on, and hope for a miracle.
I pushed off from the wall and kept running, my legs aching and my lungs burning. I couldn't give up now, not when I was so close to freedom. I darted between the alleyways, using my knowledge of the streets to evade my pursuers.
But no matter how fast I ran, I could hear the Rossi brothers closing in on me. Their footsteps echoed off the walls, getting louder and louder. I knew I was running out of time.
I spotted a narrow passageway to my left and sprinted towards it, my heart pounding in my chest. I ducked into the passage, my eyes adjusting to the darkness. I kept running, my feet pounding the pavement.
The passageway twisted and turned, leading me deeper into the heart of the city. I could hear the Rossi brothers behind me, their shouts and curses echoing off the walls. I knew I had to keep moving, had to find a place to hide.
I saw a glimmer of light ahead and made a beeline for it, praying it was a way out. I burst through the door at the end of the passageway, finding myself in a crowded market. I blended in with the crowd, my eyes scanning the stalls and shops.
I spotted a small café and made a dash for it, hoping to lose myself in the crowd. I burst through the door, my heart racing with fear. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. I had to think, had to come up with a plan.
I spotted one of the Rossi brothers' men scanning the café, his eyes locking onto me like a predator. My heart skipped a beat as I ducked behind a counter, holding my breath. He couldn't have seen me, could he?
I peeked around the counter, watching as he approached the table I had just vacated. He glanced around, his eyes narrowing as he realized I was no longer there. I held my breath, praying he wouldn't find me.
Just as he was about to give up, his phone rang. He answered, listening intently. I watched as his expression changed from frustration to excitement.
"He's got a lead," I whispered to myself, my heart sinking.
The man gestured to someone outside, and another Rossi brother's man entered the café, scanning the room. They were closing in on me.
I knew I had to act fast. I spotted a vase on a nearby table and grabbed it, hurling it at the men. It shattered on the floor, distracting them long enough for me to make a run for the back door.
"Hey!" one of them yelled, giving chase.
I burst through the door, finding myself in a narrow alleyway. I sprinted down the alley, my heart pounding in my chest. I could hear the men behind me, their footsteps getting closer.
Suddenly, a hand reached out from a shadowy corner and pulled me into a hiding spot. I found myself in a small, cramped space, my rescuer's hand over my mouth.
"Shh ,They'll pass by in a second."
I nodded, my eyes fixed on the alleyway. The men ran past, their voices fading into the distance.
My rescuer released me, and I turned to face them. It was a girl.
"Thanks,I owe you one."
"No need to thank me."
"Thanks, but I think I'll take it from here," I said.
"The Rossi brothers won't stop until they find you. You need my help to survive."
I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. I couldn't rely on someone I barely knew.
"I'll take my chances," I said, turning to leave.
I emerged from the market, my heart still racing from the close call. The sun had set, casting a dark shadow over the city. I knew I had to keep moving, had to find a way out of the city before the Rossi brothers caught up with me. I spotted a dimly lit alleyway and made a dash for it, my eyes adjusting to the darkness. I knew the streets would be more dangerous at night, but I had no choice. I had to keep running.
I darted between the shadows, my feet pounding the pavement. I could hear the distant hum of cars and the muffled sounds of the city, but otherwise, the night was quiet. I knew I couldn't trust the silence, though.
The Rossi brothers could be lurking around any corner, waiting to pounce. I kept my eyes peeled, my senses on high alert, as I walked the dark streets. I knew I had to find a way out of the city, and fast. But where could I go? And how could I escape?
I finally stopped running, my legs aching and my lungs burning. I couldn't keep going, couldn't keep running forever.
I needed to rest, needed to catch my breath. I looked around, my eyes scanning the dark alleyway for a place to hide.
I spotted a small doorway, partially hidden by a dumpster. I stumbled towards it, my legs trembling with exhaustion. I pushed open the door and collapsed inside, my body crashing against the cold floor.
I lay there, panting, my eyes closed. I knew I couldn't stay here for long, knew the Rossi brothers could find me at any moment. But for now, I just needed to rest. Just for a few minutes. Just until I could catch my breath. I closed my eyes, my body surrendering to exhaustion. I was safe, for the moment. But I knew it wouldn't last.
