LUCIA POV I lay in bed, my mind racing with thoughts of my parents and the Rossi family. I couldn't believe my parents had sold me to pay off their debts. It felt like a betrayal, a punch to the gut. As I tried to process my emotions, I heard footsteps outside my room. The door opened, and Matteo walked in, a tray of food in his hands. "I brought you some dinner," he said, his voice soft. I shook my head, not hungry. "I'm not eating." Matteo sighed and set the tray down on the bedside table. "You need to keep your strength up, Lucia." I turned away from him, not wanting to talk.
