"Cassiel..." Lune's voice trembled when our lips parted.
I immediately pulled her onto the motorcycle, revved the engine, and let the loud roar mask the storm brewing inside me. Tires screeched against the asphalt as I sped down the road.
Her arms wrapped tightly around me, and damn, her scent was intoxicating:
Lune Underwood.
The girl with the soft, heart-shaped face, defined chin, and smooth jawline. She looked delicate yet striking. Her almond-shaped, deep brown eyes captivate me.
Her lips are full and sensual. God, I want to taste them again. Just like that night we shared.
I wanted to run my hands through her long, silky, dark brown hair and thrust deep inside her, making her moan again.
Something inside me cracked.
'I want her.'
That low, dark voice echoed in my mind, and every muscle in my body tensed.
Don't listen to it, Cassiel. Just ignore it!
'I won't let you!' I snapped back.
'You and I are one, Cassiel.'
'You're not my wolf! Get out of my head!'
I tried to focus on the road, but the creature inside me was pushing hard. Its lust for Lune's body mirrored my own. It was maddening.
By the time we reached the black iron gates of the villa, I felt both relief and fear. My body was burning up, and I was losing control fast. Lune opened the gate, and I parked the bike.
"Cassiel? Are you okay?" Lune asked, concern evident in her voice as she scanned me.
I didn't answer. I couldn't. I pulled her close, unable to suppress my primal hunger any longer. I grabbed her neck and kissed her hard.
Her eyes widened, but when our gazes met, I saw her resolve waver. Her arms slid around my neck, and she let out the softest moan.
I lifted Lune in my arms and continued kissing her; our lips were now wild and desperate. Deep down, I knew this wasn't the real Lune. She wasn't entirely herself. Just like the first time we met.
But I needed her. I needed her to quench my thirst. Only she could.
"Cassiel," she whispered into my ear.
"I want to f**k you, Lune..." I panted. "I need to."
She didn't say a word. But she willingly bared her neck to me.
I sank my teeth into her skin, kissing and tasting every inch. The deeper I went, the more I lost myself. My vision blurred; I was no longer in control.
I knew I shouldn't be doing this, but—
'I want her!'
"Cassiel!!"
A different voice shouted inside my head.
Suddenly, my body went stiff. Lune slipped from my arms and collapsed to the floor. Agony shot through me like an electric shock until I dropped to my knees and slowly came back to myself.
I blinked hard and saw Daniel standing there with two witches disguised as villa maids: Carlyn and Aislin.
"You're still with me, right, Cassiel?" Daniel grabbed my face, his eyes wide.
"Huh?"
"It's you, isn't it?"
I nodded weakly. "Who else did you think it was?"
Daniel stood up and rushed to check on Lune, who was unconscious. My foggy mind slowly began to clear. Seeing Lune lying helpless, my body trembled as fear took over me.
I was about to rush to her, but Carylin and Aislin held me back. They were waiting for Daniel to finish checking on Lune. Then Daniel gave a relieved nod. That means Lune’s okay, right?
Panic gripped me. "Is she okay?" I asked.
"She's fine. For now. Tomorrow? I don't know," Daniel muttered.
He scooped Lune into his arms and carried her upstairs. Carlyn and Aislin helped me up and led me to my room. I wanted to follow Daniel to make sure Lune was really okay, but my body felt so weak. And I was sure Daniel would blow up if I kept tagging along.
"Alpha, you need to stay focused. You have to fight it," Aislin said softly. "We can't keep doing this. It's hurting you."
"Or I'll be the one hurting you next time," I rasped.
"We believe in you," Carlyn added gently. “You won’t harm us.”
I collapsed onto the bed, drained. Their suppression spell wasn't pleasant. It was painful and suffocating, but without it, I would become a monster.
Daniel—whom I usually call Danny, my beta and older brother —walked into the room. He wore his usual cold expression and stood with his arms folded, a stance he's had since we were kids. He always acts like that when he's mad.
"Start talking, Cassie..." he sneered.
"Cassiel," I corrected, grinding my teeth.
"What the hell were you doing just now? Were you trying to kill Lune?" he barked.
I remained silent. Lune was under my influence, and I doubted she remembered anything, just like the first time.
Guilt tore at me. I had taken advantage of her while she wasn't fully conscious—again. But the ancient force inside me—this curse I was born with—wouldn't let go.
"We're here to stop blood from being spilled because of you, Cassiel! How many she-wolves have died because of your lack of control?!"
I didn't need a reminder. Those ghosts already haunted me.
"But Danny..." My voice broke.
"You're the future of this pack, Cassiel! If you lose to that creature, we all burn."
I know that! Daniel doesn’t have to keep reminding me! But I have a heart and feelings too, and I know precisely who Lune really is to me!
"Lune is my mate, Danny!"
His face twisted in disbelief. "You can't have a mate—not like this! You can't!"
"Is it my career or my...other condition?" I asked.
"BOTH!" he growled, running his hands through his hair.
I glanced at Carlyn and Aislin, my two witch guardians since birth. Even now, they couldn't defend me, not after what I almost did to Lune.
But—
"I marked Lune, and she's still alive," I said.
Daniel froze. "What did you just say?"
"You heard me. She's still alive after I marked her. If she wasn't meant for me, she would have died that night."
