MAYA- what...
I always known that being a middle-class Indian I don't get a choice of selecting the groom on my own, I knew my parents or my grandpa (maternal)will select.But I never thought that they not even ask for my choice,my grandpa was always very strict he always used to say that girls should be in kitchen not in school.
I still remember the time my daddy had to fight against grandpa and mom to send me to school. When I was around 8 my dad some of his savings in stock market,he was very sad fo his loss in the share market, to make my father happy I decided to study on stocks and shares, in a year I understood the concept.I took all of my savings(from my piggy-bank) gave them to my dad and told him to invest on the company I said, my dad was stunned for a moment and he did what I told without asking any questions.
Few months later the stock we invested had brought us a huge profit, my dad was very happy and gave all of the profits to me but when grandpa came to know about it, he took away all the profits from me telling that girls don't deserve that.I became very sad. Later my father decided to keep mine and his investment secret from our own family.
My thoughts were disturbed when I saw grandpa entering inside the house.
MAYA(M)- thatha(grandpa) I wanna speak with you.
G(grandpa)-I know what you want to speak let me tell you its final I've fixed your marriage there will be no arguments on this.
M- you can't do this i'm still a minor.
G-so what when I married your grandma she was 13 yrs old.
M- why don't you marry your son's daughter to them,why me.
G-because .......... I don't have to tell you.
He said this left for his room,so I decided to speak with my daddy in his room.I knocked on the door and waited for my dad to call me in.
R(raju) - come in.
M-daddy I wanna speak with you.
R- I know honey what you want to talk, let me tell i'm totally against it and they have blackmailed me into agreeing into this.
M- what did they use to blackmail.
R- my guilt of the past I want to forget,live it tell me why are you silent you are not the type to be so understanding.
M-I can't escape from this, so I thought why not use it for why advantage.
R-what are you planning, tell me I will join to.
M- wait and see.
Telling this I left my parents room dad followed me,I went to my mother and said"I want to meet my so called groom".
