CHAPTER FIFTEEN Rachel awoke in fright, her tank top drenched in sweat and clinging, her eyes searching in the morning light to confirm she was alone in her studio. Her comforter had been flung onto the floor, but there was no tell-tale sign of cadaver on her sheets or lingering smell of corpse within the small space. She pulled off her top as she crawled out of the high bed, flicked on the electric kettle as she passed the kitchenette, and leaned into the compact bathroom to turn on the faucet above the cast-iron tub. The pipes in the walls chugged a few times, followed by the gush of water into the bath and the plume of steam throughout the tiled room.
