Strange

The hot smoke and debris smashed against Mike's arm as he covered his eyes. Where am.... Mike could barely make out his thoughts over all the ringing in his head as he got knocked off balance by a strong wind. He broke his fall with his right arm but it hurt more than it should have. There was a sharp pain on his forearm. A cut? How did... The stone floor beneath him was blood stained and cracked all over, he tried looking up but thick red dust clouds and smoke were spread all over..the smell that lingered all over was oddly familiar. The bright light....there was a bright white light then....was it a bomb? Terrorists? That's where all this smoke is from...right? His eye lids fluttered as his eyes began to tear up. The smoke caused a burning sensation to his eyes but he could faintly see Shantel in the thick red mist, she was trying to get on her knees. He tried crawling to her, wincing from the pain in his arm and the pain as tiny rocks dug into his knees. "Sha..... Shantel....Sha..." He tried calling out to her but his voice didn't reach her. "MJINN HEER!" An ominous voice boomed through all the confusion and literally made Mike's hands shiver. The dust clouds spun around and got pulled towards one direction right.....behind him. Mike quickly turned around wondering what the crippling feeling behind him was. A powerful green light burst through the thick red from afar. Mike instinctively backed away that wasn't just a bright light. It felt alive...it felt dangerous....it felt...angry and all he could see past that was imminent death. There was a loud clink and huge sparks flew into Mike's face. The green light was gone and two figures stood in front of him. "A cape? Armour?" Mike muttered, "What's....a knight?" A huge man was standing in front of him. His back turned against him. A huge red cape inscribed with a dark circle ran down from his shoulders to his grey armoured calves ,flowing with the wind. He had long black hair that ran down to his shoulders. His arms were all armoured to the gauntlets on his hands. What was more impressive about the armoured man was how he held up against the huge guy before him. He'd raised his sword trying to push back a larger sword held by a larger opponent. The was a loosely armoured....thing pushing his sword against the Knight's sword. It had a black helmet and dark plates of armour on it's arms and legs with red scaly skin showing on it's neck and uncovered body parts. " OUT OF MY WAY!" the same ominous voice threatened, booming from underneath the creature's helmet. "I'm a little bit held up at the moment, would you mind stepping back for now," his calm yet heavily commanding voice requested. The knight swung his sword and easily pushed his opponent off balance forcing his right arm up and leaving his chest wide open. The knight dashed forward and swung his sword horizontally without hesitation. The creature , despite standing easily over three metres, was surprisingly fast as he brought his broad sword down to guard against the Knight's attack the quickly stood his ground and tried to push the knight back. Mike could barely see them swing their blades at each other. He saw sparks fly as their blades clash and dust clouds rise and disperse from the recoil , parts of the ground cracked as those two fight. Wait...what am I even watching... what's even....aaaargh.... I can't wrap my head around this... I might be dreaming..... I might be not...but all I know is that I need to survive. "Shantel!" Mike turned around...the dust had finally cleared he could see her sprawled on the ground. He forced himself up on his feet and tried running to her, moving a few steps close to her then got tripped. He raised his head and tried getting up, "What was.." Mike looked down to his feet to see what he tripped on. "What the.." he quickly jumped away. There was a body lying on the floor . The body was so heavily charred all the way from the head down to it's chest with it's brown clothes soaked in blood. "Blood?" Mike looked around and took a deep breath then suddenly covered his nose , " So that was the smell? Blood!" Mike looked around in horror. He could vaguely make out where they were. A huge grey stone platform loosely painted red with long curved pillars all around it, with statues at the tops of each pillar, most of which were cracked and broken. The platform was cracked all over with charred bodies and debris lying all over. A gust of wind blew across Mike's face and a soft glint of a familiar grey armour shone right next to him. The knight stood close to him once again, his blade still clashing with that of the creature who was growling and mumbling what Mike didn't care to try and understand. The knight gave a quick glance over to Mike , a powerful blue glow within his eyes. "For your own safety and that of the lady over there," Shantel got up on her knees and looked around all confused, " I'd suggest you run straight up ahead and don't look back." Mike looked as far as he could, " Wait, " he saw as far as he could and past the edge of the platform, all he saw was the horizon, " Where are we, it seems kinda high, are we that high, how far does.." The knight leaned forward and pushed the creature back and swung his sword around, forcing it to keep it's distance to avoid his s***h. He turned his head back and wore a smile. Mike's body quickly shot up and he got on his feet seeming to respond to the Knight's words which followed his strange smile. "Run!" his voice was soft and his smile seems not to hear any sort of malice but his body felt a strange compulsion to stand up and he mustered the energy he didn't know he had. "Mike! What's?" He rushed to Shantel and helped her up, holding ager hand and running straight ahead. Where to? He didn't know, all he had to do was run. " Mike what's.." "Don't look down! Just run, don't think much," Mike's heart beat throbbed in his head as he tried processing all that just happened while also trying to make sense of what they were doing. Shantel's mind was still hazy with the ringing noice still echoing a little in her mind. A bright light came all of a sudden and now they were running on a cracked floor with loud noises all around them and bodies on the floor. "WAIT WHAT! " Shantel's knees suddenly buckled up and she almost went down when a figure suddenly showed up on her left and held her up. "Watch your step please," a loud but concerned voice called out, it was a dark boy with red shoulder length dreadlocks ." "And like he said," a high pitched but stern sounding voice followed, from a blonde haired girl standing next to Mike, " at this rate....there's no other way, straight ahead." "Hey," the boy held Shantel's hand and looked straight into her eyes with his dark eyes, " you seem pretty tensed up," he looked up at Mike, " but I need you to trust me for now." He was wearing the same half done blue armour as the girl, a breast plate, gauntlets and shin guards all emitting a faint white gleam. The girl's hand shot in front of Mike's face , she swiped to the right and something smashed against the metal on her gauntlets with a loud screech. A huge dagger fell on to the floor in front of them. " It's us," she said, " or death by them," she pointed to a far away pillar that suddenly cracked up and collapsed, dark figures crawling up from the dust, " choose wisely." The guy pulled Shantel's arm and rushed forward, closer and closer to the edge of the platform. Mike got pulled and realised how strong the armoured girl's grip was. They ran up to the edge of the platform, the sky seemed wider and the wind blew harder. She held his arm and stepped on the edge, bent a little then thrust herself forward, pulling Mike with her. The wind blew against Shantel's hair and she could see the sun set from a far, she looked down and there were fields stretching as far as her eyes could see.And as the wind roared in her ears the only other thing she heard was the armored boy's cheering. She turned around, watching the boy smile but saw the horror in Mike's face then she finally came to a serious realisation. " Wait a minute," she looked down and the fields she saw.....the ground beneath her feet seemed to sink so much further and further away that the trees looked like tiny blurs, " aren't we way too high uu...."
