The blood on Mike’s knees and arms dried up as the wind blew hard against him. The ground pulled closer and he could see the tiny dots form up into small stone buildings with brick roofs. Mike was falling and felt practically weightless facing the ground. The girl next to him held his hand and smashed her metal heel against the side of the tower and shiny sparks shot out as she skidded down. “NGUVU! (ngu-vuh)“ she roared with a strange pressure from her voice, a small gust of wind spun around her when she pushed harder against the wall forming a small fissure on it. The muscles on her waist and abdomen pulled hard and she spun and tossed Mike back up the tower.
“Wait! Waaaaahhhh!” it had all happened in a split second, Mike was falling down and all of a sudden the girl pulled on his arm and spun him like a carrousel and threw him back up ,his shoulder felt like it was gonna rip apart. The air behind him felt like a flailing sheet in the wind and as he flew up the ground was pulling further away, the buildings below were disappearing into tiny spots. Mike's heart was all over the place.
“ It’s a dream, just a dream, I’ll wake up soon enough,” he closed his eyes and smiled despite the sharp pain on his shoulder , turning around, his head facing up to the sky, “I’ll wake up soon enough, there’s no way all this stuff is real.”
He opened his eyes and a humanoid figure jumped off the ledge. It’s body was clothed in dark armour with deep red lines inscribed on the limbs and edges, he could make out the same vague figure for the others that followed it.
Mike’s body rose higher and higher till he felt himself slow down as he went a few metres over the tower. His body slowed down until, for a second he seemed to stop mid air and in that split second he saw the girl do even more ridiculous stuff that seemed straight out of an anime. She stomped on the wall and jumped up so fast she flashed right past one creature. It’s torso drifted from it’s waist, blood spurted from it’s body as it fell behind her.
She stomped on the wall, a shiny blade painted red glinted in her hand, she jumped sideways and Mike could no longer see her move. He saw blur zigzag across the wall then felt someone tug on his arm. A familiar feeling hand pulled him and he started falling again, the armored girl was by his side again. Regardless of whether this was real or not, after that impossible display of super human agility and speed by the girl, her calm demeanor as the feel from that sky scraper of a tower made sense now.
Mike tried his best to ignore the blood and bodies of the creatures as they fell along with them. They got closer and closer to the ground. Shantel was being helped up by the boy who looked up to them as they fell. He smiled and lifted his right hand, pointing at them with a small rod. It looked like he was saying something but Mike couldn’t hear him over the wind blowing right into his ears. The boy twirled the rod in a small circle.
A small blue circular glow appeared over the boy then Mike felt the air vibrate as if a deep voice was shouting from within and around his body. PEPO! (peh-po) A calming but powerful gust of wind blew from below Mike and the girl, cushioning their fall till they landed on the ground. Mike was on his knees as the girl tried getting her balance as they landed. She staggered a bit but got her balance avoiding the body parts that fell and sprawled to the grass.
“Really pushed yourself there didn’t you,” the boy teased, “ You gotta be careful though, you know these guys are…. hey where are…”
Shantel got loose from him a made her way to Mike, a sudden pain in her joints forced her to her knees but he held on to him. Her arms felt so warm around him ,her cheek rested on her shoulder. Mike had seen so many unbelievable things and had come to the conclusion that it was all a crazy dream but this… this felt too realm He felt her tears drop on his back and by instinct his arms folded around her.
“Hey, it’ll be alright, we’ll be fine,” with his arms shaking he held her close to himself, being as confused as she was he was fighting the urge to break down in tears and scream. But no matter where he was be it a dream or reality.....
“Hold on, I’ll keep you safe…..” he took a deep breath and finally calmed down, “ I always will.”
“ Not to interrupt your lovey dovey time,” the boy walked to their side and tapped Mike on the shoulder, “ but we seriously have to go!”
Shantel looked down and Mike’s shadow seemed to be getting drowned in a much darker and thicker shadow. She looked up and she could barely speak a word. The boy pulled on her arm, Mike looked up and fear got his hands cold again. The creatures, they jumped out in such a huge swarm they looked like a thick dark cloud.
“ Rimu!” the boy called to the armored girl as he turned to make a run for it pulling Shantel by the hand.
“Cant you feel it,” the girl looked up and squinted her eyes.
The boy walked slowly towards her, still holding Shantel by the hand, “ you’re right,” he looks up at the airborne hoard, his eyes gave a glow of admiration, “we’re safe.”
Mike saw a bright light shine above the creature cloud and familiar feeling crawled around his body and rang from the inside similar to the last time with the wind. This one was different, it felt heavier but calmer. Then the voice boomed again.
KATA
The cloud above them cleared up almost instantaneously, swallowed up by the light so bright it hurt to look at. Mike turned his eyes away and wiped up but he could barely see anything. The light had hurt his eyes. His eyesight slowly got better so he moved his head up from facing the ground as a new figure landed in front of him.
The taller Knight’s feet softly touched the ground as he landed with one knee on the ground. He stood up and swiped his sword to splash off the blood to the ground. There were crashes as body after body fell around them but not close enough to cause any harm to them. They were cut up into little pieces and the blood spilled all over the grass. Mike felt weak in his knees, all the getting tossed around had taken a huge toll on him and now…. this monster with blood bathed armor had just massacred a horde of unbelievably scary creatures. Shantel could barely keep calm. There were body parts all around them the b****y sight was the most disturbing thing she had ever seen.
She looked in front and saw the armored man slid his sword back into it’s sheath. The boy’s body stiffened as the Knight’s eyes looked their way. The girl standing next to Mike straightened up and saluted with her right hand and so did the boy. And they all shouted in unison.
“ Jenerali!”
