Ana
I did not know what to do. As I followed Eva from the house on her birthday I was met with an unexpected sight. My half angel daughter was taking off into the air with large dark wings. 'How and why?' was all I could think.
Eva had been my light while darkness threatened to over power after her father passed away. I had to help her but doing so was proving to be difficult as my daughter refused to honestly open up.
Learning Jasper was her fated gave me hope. While he was the son of the greatest dark warlock, he also became one of the brightest people I ever encountered. While Eva had tortured him, he never held it against her or retorted. Instead he would attempt to lift her up just as he did with everyone he encountered.
After Derek learned Jasper had felt their bond since his 18th birthday I was shocked. How did he stay so positive? My heart would have shattered if my Derek treated me the way Eva had him. It proved to me how incredibly strong he was. I knew why Jasper was chosen as her fated.
I followed Ana to the café that still haunted me after all these years. It was there our first major personal interaction with darkness occurred. Witnessing her skip school and visit the run down café, knowing her ability to contact the dead, I feared the worst.
I needed help. I needed to speak to Jasper and hope his light could reignite Eva's. I was not going to lose my daughter to darkness.
Third Party POV
Jasper sat in his bedroom waiting for his love to return from school. Their parents were working so they would have time to themselves. Earlier than expected the front door opened. He rushed out of bed expecting to greet Eva. As he reached the foyer his mother appeared with a worried look etched upon her face.
“Mom, what is going on? Is everyone okay?” Jasper asked.
Unable to make eye contact, Ana looked at the floor while shaking her head. “No honey, one of us is not. I am going to need your help. Before I tell you I need to warn you that what I will say is going to hurt from multiple angles. You are so strong and the only one of us with the ability to reverse this.”
Hearing his mother's distraught words he knew what she was going to say.
“Mom, she showed me. I know about her wings and her interest in darkness. I told her to speak with you but she refuses to believe you will understand. Seeing your reaction she might be right. Why are you so nervous? Dad brought you back when your heart was darkened. I can do the same for Eva.”
“I am glad to hear she began to open up to you but unfortunately it was just that. Only the beginning. I believe she is contacting your biological father and the way that man can manipulate I fear it may take more than love,” Ana replied.
“Eva is doing what?! This is my fault,” Jasper said with shock and guilt lacing his voice. He proceeded to explain what happened 12 years ago, what caused her to resent him and send her down the darkened path.
“I understand why you asked her to contact him. He was your father. You want to see the good in people even if there is none to be found. It was him who manipulated Eva and unfortunately it seems Eva fell for it. You are her destiny for a reason and I have a feeling it will be you who untangles her heart and mind,” Ana replied, attempting to reassure her son.
“Well, isn't that sweet,” a sarcastic voice said.
They hadn't noticed the door c***k open. Eva walked into where they stood.
“I see you spilled the beans, Jasper. No worries, I don't need to be rescued. Mom, give it up. I have dealt with enough. You are insane if you truly believed my heart would be light. Did he tell you I have wings?” she asked before spreading her now even darker accessories.
“What the Hell Eva! First, Jasper did not tell me. I already knew. You are also wrong about being destined for darkness. I have been through everything you have and managed to overcome the destructive energy,” Ana angrily replied.
“Typical you mom. You are always better since you are one half of the almighty fated pair destined to keep rainbows and butterflies bombarding Earth. I am done with it. Life is not black and white,” Eva retorted before she angrily stomped up to her bedroom, pushing Jasper out of the way.
Tears hit Ana's eyes as she excused herself. Jasper was left alone to anxiously think about what he just witnessed.
