“Clark!” a feminine voice thundered “my words to you are no request; they are orders which you must see to carry out” “I’m sorry my princess, it won’t happen again” Clark apologized as he stayed in a kneeling position in front of the princess who had her back turned to him. Her gown pulling long behind her “your words are my command” “Good” the princess answered satisfied “what I want right now is your empire, hand it over to me” “Empire?” Clark asked surprised making the princess abruptly turn to glare at him “The company Clark, I want it!” she yelled, scaring the man who lowered his head in fear “You can have it all, my lady, whatever you want is yours to have…” his words fade in the distance *** “Hey lady!” the angry voice of his driver brought him back to the present reality from the past “what do you think you’re doing!” he looked up just in time to see the driver trying to pull Catra away from the car’s pathway. “Wait I just want to talk to your boss” she struggled fervently against the man “I won’t take much of your time I promise” “You can’t do that miss, not when he’s in a hurry” the driver tried to let her lose her guard so he could pull her away but she stayed unrelenting and maintained her position. “But I won’t take long please” she begged determined, meanwhile, Clark was giving himself some motivational speech in the car with the muffled quarrel of Catra and the driver as background. “I won’t bend to her will” he recited “the me of this life is different from the me of the past, she CAN NOT rule over me” he confirmed and with one final determined breath stepped out of the car with all his might, intending to look intimidating to the lady who stopped struggling at the sight of him. Catra gasped at him before pushing her way out of the driver’s hand to get to him. “Oh my God, you must be Mr. Anderson?” she gaped in awe causing Clark to raise his brows in confusion. “I’m Catra Jones; I have a degree in business administration and would love to work in your company” Clark had a blank look on his face and his stretched out silence had the driver reaching out to intervene but he raised his hand to stop him from approaching further. ‘Did she just call me Mr. Anderson?’ he thought as he looked intently at her. He couldn’t have been wrong about her being princess Catra or maybe she just doesn’t remember me or her past life. “What makes you think there’s a position open here for you, Catra?” he put more emphasis on her name trying to gauge her reaction but she stood unfazed with a smile on her face. “Well…” she smiled sheepishly “someone who sees and hears all told me I’d get a job if I come here and tada!” she waved her hands close to her face “here I am” “Someone who sees and hears all” he thought aloud to himself “do you mean a seer?” he asked her to whom she enthusiastically nods her head in confirmation before adding… “Something of the sort” “And you believed them?” “Of course, she’s the best at these kind of things, even though she’s not that good with lotto forecasting, she’s still better than most” Catra sounded almost giddy making Clark hum in understanding. “What if I say there’s no job openings at the moment miss Catra?” he asked seriously with an underlying teasing tone and a smile disappeared “Then you would have to make one available” she said in a matter of fact tone causing Clark’s eyes to widen in surprise. “Is… is that supposed to be a threat?” he asked, his voice cracking at the beginning but Catra just laughed at that as she playfully patted his shoulder. “That’s what I would have said if I had any authority right?” she joked before getting serious again and grabbed the other’s hand in both of her own causing his eyes to widen and his heartbeat quicken. “But my life depends on getting this job; I have my student loan to pay among many other loans” She looked pitifully at Clark who withdrew his hand to shove it in his pocket, clearing his throat. “Fine” he caved. “Really?” she asked back hopeful she didn’t hear wrong. “Hmm, but I can’t employ you without seeing your CV now can I?” “I can go get them right now” “You can bring it tomorrow and we’ll see what we can do” he said as he stepped close to his car door which the driver once again held open for him “Thank you very much, I’ll be here first thing tomorrow morning” she bowed happily “Oh and one more thing” Clark paused from getting in and turned to her “do try to look more presentable” He added before stepping into the car causing the young lady to look down at her wrinkled and by then dirty floral dress. “Of course sir, see you tomorrow” she happily waved at the man as the car moved past her and away. “Hah what a relief” she let out a happy sigh “that stupid shaman finally got something right for once in her life and I’m finally going to be earning some legit money” She turns around with a satisfied look on her face and began to happily skip away while humming a happy tone. “I’m sorry for the delay sir” Clark heard his driver say but couldn’t pay him much attention as he just waved him off, his mind occupied with thoughts of the woman he had just met after so long. Who would have thought that fate would put her in the palm of his hand and more so without her having any memories of her past life. One more thing he would have to add to the list of things he would be grateful to the universe for; a chance to make princess Catra feel what he had felt under her rule and dominance. To have his revenge for everything she had done to him. The mere thought of it was bliss to him. Throughout the rest of his day he couldn’t concentrate on anything he was doing, he was super busy making plans in his head on how to get back at the princess, letting out evil chuckles at how lethal some of them were in his head. By the end of the day he was attracting looks, not the usual kind he gets for being such a handsome, rich and well reserved man but the opposite. ‘But then again’ he thought as he flopped down on his sofa rather ungracefully at the end of the day, images of Catra from the past and that of the one he met minutes ago flashed in his mind. While Catra of the past looked majestic and beautiful with her properly trained smile, Catra of the presence looked freer and genuinely happy and so he couldn’t help but think… “Was this what she wished for then?”
