I make my way out into the woods and see my sisters hard at work. I walk up to Ulva, who’s taken a step back from the rest of them. “How’s it going?”
“It’s going. There are a lot of lands to cover, and we want to make sure that it holds.” A jolt goes through my body, and I drop to my knees. My head is thrown back as a searing pain runs through my chest. I’m not sure how long it lasts, but it feels like it’s forever.
When the pain lets up, I fall forward on my hands. My breathing is coming out in heavy pants, and I feel winded. I feel hands on my back; as soothing as they are, I don’t want them right now.
