CHAPTER FOUR

1095 Words
I tried to shake off the feeling of being watched, telling myself it was just my imagination. But the sensation lingered, making my skin crawl. As the day went on, I found myself constantly looking over my shoulder, expecting to see the figure from the shadows but there was never anyone there. Dani seemed to notice my unease. "Hey, is everything okay?" she asked as we took a break in the kitchen. I hesitated, unsure if I should mention what I saw but something about Dani's kind expression put me at ease. "I thought I saw someone watching us earlier," I said, trying to sound casual. Dani's expression turned serious. "What did they look like?" I described the figure, and Dani's eyes narrowed. "That sounds like one of the pack's guards. They're always keeping an eye on things around here." I felt a wave of relief wash over me. Maybe I wasn't going crazy after all. But as we finished our break and headed back to work, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being watched. And this time, I knew I wasn't imagining things. As we walked down the hallway, I caught a glimpse of the figure again. This time, I saw their face. It was a man with piercing blue eyes and chiseled features. He was handsome, but something was unsettling about his gaze. " Dani," I whispered, tugging on her arm. "I see him again." Dani followed my gaze, and her eyes locked onto the man. For a moment, they just stared at each other. Then, the man vanished into thin air. I spun around, looking for him, but he was gone. "What just happened?" I asked Dani, feeling confused and a little scared. Dani's expression was grim. "That was Elijah, one of the pack's most skilled warriors and I have no idea what he wants with you." That's crazy. Why am I being watched? “Hey….you two here!” Clara called out, we both exchanged looks and ran to her. “Good day Clara!” she did a little bow to pay our respect. She glared at us, a look of disdain on her face, “what were you standing around doing?” she asked but we had no answer to her question so we kept quiet. “You are a bunch of useless retards!” she yelled in our faces making me flinch. Normally, I wouldn't be scared of her this much but knowing she could rip me limb from limb got me shaking in my boots. “Human!” I slowly raised my head to meet her eyes, “The Alpha’s room needs to be dusted and put in order. When you are there, do not steal or change anything, leave everything the way you found it. Do your work and leave before he returns, is that understood?” “Yes, Clara!” I whispered. “Now, leave!” I scurried out of there, grabbed my cleaning materials, and began to make my way to the Alpha’s wing which I had seen but had not been to, as if was protected by guards. When I got to the wing, I told my business to the guards and they let me in after they searched me. I walked down the long hallway trying to figure out where his room was. The hallway was dimly lit and I could barely see. “How does one walk in such dark halls?” I kept searching till I saw a huge door at the far end of the hall, I walked briskly towards it and when I got there I pushed the door slightly, poking my head in to see if it was the right place and yes, it was. I heaved a sign of relive and walked in and I immediately began my work. I dusted, cleaned, swept, and dressed the bed. I saw a picture on the nightstand of a wolf with blue eyes and her pup which had golden eyes and black fur. “The Alpha!” “What are you doing here?” I jolted, dropping the picture and my duster on the floor. “s**t…I’m sorry…” I went to pick up the stuff and he did the same, our hands slightly brushed each other, and I quickly withdrew my hand. I stood upright with my clean materials, my head bowed low. I couldn't see his eyes but I could feel his intense gaze. “I'm sorry, your highness…..I did not mean to intrude. I was just trying to clean!” I said in a low tone. The tension in the air was choking. I couldn't breathe. My heartbeat was fast and I was praying quietly for me to walk out untouched. “Get out!” “Huh” I looked up, his golden eyes were glowing, and his fangs were elongated. “Out!” he growled and I pushed past him with the speed of light, not asking any questions whatsoever. That was the scariest thing I had ever seen. I did not stop running till I left the wing. As I kept running I bumped into someone. “Sorry….I wasn't looking!” I apologize as I cleaned the little spill. I looked to see who I hit and I saw the demon—Victor, the man who brought me here, a pack filled with horrors. “You…” He gave me a toothy grin, “You remembered me.” “What is this place you brogue to, please take me back. I will do anything just let it stop!” He let out a loud laugh that echoed through the halls, “That won't be possible human! Your father sold you, remember. You belong here.” Tears slowly ran down my eyes, “Please I'm begging you, I would repay you, just let me leave!” I cried hard but it did not seem to move him. He shoved past me “Brace up, human. This is only the beginning of your problems.” he let out a loud, evil laugh as he walked out the hallway, right there and there my legs gave way and I collapsed on the floor and wept hard. As I sat on the floor, sobbing uncontrollably, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I flinched, expecting it to be Victor or Clara, but instead, I saw Dani's concerned face. "Sarah, what's wrong?" she asked, helping me up. I tried to compose myself, but the tears kept flowing. "I...I saw the Alpha," I stuttered and her eyes widened in horror
