Earlier that day
The rooms' atmosphere was cold, no one dared to speak a word while their boss looked at them across the table. "My father passed this organization down to me for a reason. What the f**k makes you all think you can start slacking off with your work just because you now address me instead? This will be your only warning. Next time there will be no words, only actions will help you get your head on straight and that will be after the recovery you'll have to endure if you're lucky enough". His words were so calm, but it wasn't the comforting kind, it was the kind of calmness that would send shivers down your spine. They all looked towards their boss with their eyes lowered as a sign of respect. "Get out of here", he dismissed them all without a second glance. Kyle La Marca, a man who was raised in the world of guns, drugs and violence. The difference between him and his siblings was that Kyle embraced the life he was brought into and thrived off it. Darkness always called for him and at many times brought him comfort, which his father recognized very early on and nurtured to help him become the stone-cold monster he was today. His mother was part of the reason he embraced darkness. Nothing he did as a young child would please her or earn her praise. If anything, she punished him for trying so hard to impress her, but overtime, Kyle learned to become immune to the pain, so when she passed away he felt nothing. Not loss, not sorrow, but nor did he feel relief or happiness. The poor boy felt absolutely nothing. Since that day, he has never accepted any type of emotion or affection from any woman. Yes, he lay with women, but he made sure they were always random, never took place in his own bed and never happened more than once. He would always set the rules for them before anything took place. These rules were no eye contact, not to speak unless spoken to, always do as he ordered and most importantly, never any kissing. There were always a few that would try their luck, but he would stop whatever was happening immediately and leave. Kyle was taken away from his thoughts when his father walked into the room. "I will not ask how it went, but I'm pretty sure one of the lads is being sick in the bathroom", Charles said to his son while he poured himself a drink. Kyle let out a low chuckle, "God these new lads are too delicate, its pathetic". His father smirked and shook his head, "no son, you're just nothing they've ever seen before, but that is a good thing" Charles raised his glass to him before gulping the drink down in one. "I'm going out tonight, Michael is back in town helping his young one settle into university, and it's been a while since we've been able to have a catch-up." Charles and Michael were very close friends at one point which led to Michael working for him. After the incident at Mazes private school, it caused Michael to have to step back from business. Usually this was never allowed, but because of how close friends they were, he made an exception. Plus, Charles absolutely adored Maze as a child, she was completely different to anyone he knew. So full of kindness and innocence. "Uncle Mike had a kid?" he asked his father, confused. "Yeah, don't you remember little Maze? Very sweet girl." Kyle couldn't help but notice the smile his father made when he spoke about her. "Got a soft spot for her, have you dad?" he jokingly winked over to him, letting out a laugh. "Don't be silly Kyle, she just has a unique aura about her. Always so happy and full of life, not something we get to see in this life. Look at your b***h of a sister". "Which one?" Kyle quickly responded. Charles let out a laugh, "exactly my point son. Right, I'm off. I've got a couple of things I need to do before tonight." He gave his son a nod before he went to turn out the door, but Kyle quickly stopped him. "What uni are they at? My afternoon is free, I might pop over and see how he is, if they need any help". Charles stopped and raised his brow at his son. Kyle hated doing manual work. Even as a child, he used to try to bribe his father's men to tidy his room for him. "What's the real reason?" Charles wasn't stupid and Kyle knew that. "Really dad, it's been a long time for me too, and besides you, he was the only other family I had growing up. I just want to see him and see how he's been doing." He looked at his son knowing what he just said was complete bulls**t, but he couldn't say no to him either. "Fine you little sh*t, it's the uni down the road." Kyle grinned at his dad like a 4-year-old boy that was just given his first remote car. They both walked out to the garage, getting into separate cars. Before pulling away, Charles rolled down his window and asked Kyle to do the same. "Behave yourself." He just smirked at his father, "always do, don't I?" and pulled away.
30 minutes later
Kyle had been walking around for 10 minutes, with no luck finding Michael. What he did find, was an on-campus milkshake shack and if he had one guilty pleasure, it was milkshakes. He looked at his watch, but then it clicked on. He's the boss now, following his own schedule. He laughed at himself for making that mistake and then headed inside. As soon as he walked through the door, all eyes were on him, the girls were staring at him with lust-filled eyes and all the men were looking at him in envy. He paid no mind to it though and walked straight up to the counter. The girl working behind the counter kept clicking her pen against her pad, chewing gum with her mouth wide open. Girls like that irritate Kyle to a whole new level. What is wrong with basic manners? "I'll take the white chocolate and strawberry ripple shake thanks" he tried to hold back the annoyance in his voice when ordering. "Is that it?" her attitude couldn't be more blatant. "Yeah, that's everything and do me a favor. Try not to get any of that spit you keep chewing around in my drink". The disgust in his voice was very obvious this time. The girl's mouth instantly closed, she was obviously embarrassed and not used to being corrected for her poor mannerisms. While he was waiting for his drink, he saw a little brunette trying to be subtle, looking over her shoulder at him even though the man opposite her was clearly her boyfriend. Kyle couldn't help himself, he smirked at the boyfriend and gave the girl a cheeky wink, causing her to blush and giggle. The man opposite was clearly upset but didn't dare say a word. He wasn't interested in the girl the slightest, but he just enjoyed asserting his power and showing other males who was the alpha. Not that he needed to because he gave off the most powerful aura just from being present. A couple of minutes later, the girl behind the counter took over his drink. "Thank you for waiting, enjoy your shake" she said with a much improved attitude this time, and he noticed the gum was gone from her mouth. "Yeah, so do I" and with that he grabbed his drink and walked out the door. As he pushed it open he heard a thud and a little voice. "Ouchy" the voice came from the ground. He looked down and couldn't believe what he was looking at. This girl was nothing like he had seen before. The first thing he noticed was what she was wearing. She had a long white sleeved shirt, over the top of it was pastel pink dungarees covered in care bears. To finish the outfit off, she had white thigh-high socks and pastel pink air force trainers. She looked up at him as she got up from the ground and brushed herself down. She had big doe eyes that were a vibrant green, brighter than he had seen before. Perfectly pink cheeks and little freckles over her nose. Her ebony hair was tied into pigtails but left some of her ringlets loose at the front. How is she so damn cute, he asked himself. "You alright there little miss?" he wanted to hear if her voice matched the way she looked. "Um, I, yes, I think." Her voice was so soft and gentle. He noticed her look down which irritated him slightly. He was enjoying the sight of her looking up at him with those eyes. That's when he noticed how small she was. She couldn't have been any taller than 4ft 10 and that piqued his interest more. "That's alright then, isn't it?" he let out a chuckle to relax her, but she was still looking at the ground. She was nodding her head, which he appreciated, rather than just ignoring him. "You know its rude not to look at someone when they're talking". He couldn't help himself. He reached out and tilted her head up by her chin, forcing her to look at him. He made sure he was gentle because he could tell how shy she was. "That's better, little miss?" but before he could get her name, he heard the voice he was looking for. "Maze!" an annoyed Michael shouted over. Kyle smiled at the girl who was looking at him with eager but modest eyes. "So that's the name of my new trinket", he thought to himself, before turning to greet Michael.
