Look What I Found

Present time... "Maze where am I putting the damn wardrobe!" Michael shouted, trying to get some relief from lugging this giant, and in his opinion, oversize piece of furniture. It was Maze's first day of university, so Michael was helping her move everything into her dorm even though he was very reluctant for her to even be there. What Maze didn't realize though was, he had rented an apartment very close to the university grounds. Maze isn't like most girls her age, she is very intelligent, extremely kind-hearted and has the odd crush occasionally, but what makes her different is that she's also a 'Little'. Maze would prefer to dress in dungarees, anime-themed outfits, more pastel-colored dresses and would never go outside unless she had her hair up in pigtails. In whichever bag she decided to take with her, one of her teddies would be in it, and she would sometimes age regress. This, however, made Maze more vulnerable in adult situations if she had regressed, but it also made her more shy and more anxious when by herself. At first, Michael wanted to get Maze some kind of help for it, but when her doctor explained to him what it was, and he did his research, he stepped back, realizing it was her way of coping with her traumatic past and life experiences. Letting her come to university alone was a big step for them both and after sometime and alot of discussion he finally agreed to let her have her own dorm, but he never said anything about that dorm being more than ten minutes away from his location. "Ummmm how about next to the bed?" he could tell by her tone of voice that she had no idea where to put it, so he knew what he needed to do next. "How about you go register yourself, and I'll sort out what goes where in here" he heard the sigh of relief coming from behind the wardrobe before her happy little face poked round the corner. "Thank you Unc, you're the best!" Maze gave her uncle a grateful smile, a quick kiss on the cheek and skipped her way out of the dorm. Michael looked at the door that his sweet Maze had just walked out of trying to work out where all the time had gone. There's no denying he saw her as his own daughter and even though he knew that she wasn't, he would never see her any other way. He never lied to her about how she came into his life. In fact, he was completely honest when she got older and asked why she called him uncle instead of dad like all the other kids did with their parents. He was happy he decided to be honest with her from the beginning, because she grew up knowing the truth, so it made it easier for her to accept and move on from it. Of course, she would ask him questions from time to time, but what child wouldn't ask about their birth parents? In the end, Maze stopped asking because she simply didn't desire to know the parents that never came back for her or even tried reaching out to her. Michael wished he could answer more when she asked him questions, but the reality was, he knew as little as she did. Maze had just finished registering for all her classes and signing all the necessary documents. She was finally a full-time student and was looking forward to her new life starting from that very moment. "Thank you so much for all your help" she smiled genuinely at the woman behind the desk who hadn't cracked even a smidgen of a smile in the last 20 minutes she had been there. "Okay..." the woman replied confused at the girls overly happy attitude. Maze's smile faltered because of the grumpy aura the old lady was giving off and decided to move along instead of taking up any more of her time. Now Maze knew she shouldn't wonder, at least not without telling her uncle she was going to be longer than she said. Just as she was about to message him, the mother of all milkshake shacks caught her eye from across the yard. Excitement took over the girl, and she completely forgot to message him and headed straight to the glass door that would be holding all the delicious flavors on its shelves behind it. The door was inches away from her reach when she seemed to have smashed into a brick wall. "Ouchy!" Maze rubbed her nose that had a slight sting to it. She looked up to see it was no wall she had walked into it, it was in fact the most gorgeous man she had ever set her eyes on. This man stood over 6ft tall, wearing tight black jeans and a matching black dress shirt that looked 2 sizes too small, but she wasn't complaining in the slightest. She also noticed the gold cross necklace hanging around his neck which made her eyes trail up to his face. He had a full beard, but you could tell it was well groomed, the top of his hair was long. He had it tied neatly in a loose braid at the top and twisted up at the back in the bun. The sides of his head were shaven, showing the tattoos. The thing that really caught her attention though was the smokey gray eyes looking down at her, and she couldn't help but be incredibly shy the longer his gaze stayed on her. "You alright there little miss" his voice was deep but soft, she felt so weak the second it hit her ears. "Um, I, yes I think" she was barely able to get her words out but the feelings she had got to intense and broke the gaze they were holding. "That's alright then isn't it" he said with a small chuckle. All Maze could do was nod her head but refuse to look up from the floor. "You know its rude not to look at someone when they are talking to you" as he said this he reached his hand up to her chin and very softly tilted her head up. Her big doe eyes locked onto his. "Much better, little miss?" he waited for her to finish her sentence but someone else finished it for her. "Maze!" they both turned their heads recognizing the annoyed voice shouting over. Michael had finally finished putting the last of her furniture into the room. He was happy she had got a dorm to herself because no way would anyone else be able to fit in their stuff on top of all the things he just had to drag in there. He decided to leave the little things like her teddies, clothes, trinket boxes laid out on the bed, so she could put those little touches herself into the room. Looking at his watch and realized an hour had passed, but Maze still hadn't returned. His nerves kicked in when he checked his phone and saw no texts or calls. Surely she couldn't be registering still, he thought to himself. Just to be safe, he decided to go down and check to see if she was about. Maze knew the rules, if she was going to wonder or there was a change of plan she was supposed to let him know. That doesn't mean she ever remembered, because once that girl was in her head she became very forgetful and oblivious. As he came round the corner he saw she was no longer at the registration office and his nerves began to build up. He walked outside and scanned the area and that is when he saw her. He sighed with relief, but that didn't last very long. "Maze!" he shouted, blood boiling seeing some guys hand touching her. First day at university and she's already let someone too close. He had trained her better than that to let her guard down so easily. That's when the man standing in front of her turned his head. "What's up, uncle Mickey". The man said with the same old cocky smile his father has. Michael looked at the ground and shook his head slowly before looking up with a grin. "Hey Kyle"
