It was like everything was crashing in at once, I couldn’t breathe, not after the bomb Alexander had just dropped on me.
I gently pulled my hand away from Alexander’s, feeling my heart pound louder with each passing second. I didn’t know what to say. This wasn’t how I’d expected things to go. Playing the game with the Lockwood brothers was supposed to be simple.. make them chase me, make them look foolish, then walk away untouched. But now, hearing Alexander talk about his feelings, I was stunned. Wasn’t he supposed to be the cold-hearted Casanova? This wasn’t part of my plan.
