I jumped up as the lights suddenly flicked on. My heart was still racing from the date with Christopher, and now, standing there with her hands on her hips and a wide grin, was Lilly. She was staring at me with that look… the one that meant I wasn’t getting out of this without telling her everything.
“Well? Don’t keep me waiting!” she said, trying to sound stern but too excited to keep a straight face. “I saw everything from the window!”
I chuckled, rubbing my neck awkwardly. “At least let me sit down and grab some water first, will you?”
Lilly nodded, waving her hand as if she’d been holding her breath since I’d left. “Fine, go sit. I’ll get you water. But don’t think you’re off the hook. I need every single detail!”
