Reine couldn’t pull her eyes from the door, where his mom and dad had just walked out with Eva and Cameron.
Marcus was very aware of the bond between mother and daughter. He felt a tap on his arm and looked down to his sister Karen, who wasn’t smiling. The way she’d walked through his front door ahead of Suzanne had reminded him of a wrecking ball. She could and would take out anything that dared to become an obstacle.
“So what happened?” Karen said.
He just stared at her, wondering what she was talking about. “With…?” he started, and she let out a sigh. He watched as Reine finally moved away from the door, as his parents had driven away with the kids. Maybe it was seeing her face and the ache she couldn’t hide that bothered him so much.
