Chapter 14 “So how bad is it?” Karen asked from the side of the highway. Dark was starting to settle in, and the Mercedes was at an odd angle in the ditch. Reine stood behind Suzanne, who was crouched down beside the flat tire. “And how long did Harold say it would be until he gets here?” Suzanne was squatting, shaking her head, still staring at the tire. “The tire can’t get much flatter. Could change it if you have a spare, but we’ll never get out of this ditch without a tow. I don’t think he’ll be long. I’m going to call a tow truck, too.” Suzanne really did have a take-charge way about her. Reine took in the car in the ditch, a steep drop-off, as Suzanne pulled out her phone.
