31 Shelley’s hands fisted at her sides, as red bled into the cheeks of her face. “You lied to me?” The grind of her teeth reached my hearing—a split second before she bolted into the hallway. I shot to my feet, my chair clattering back. “Shelley, wait!” Her shoes slapped along the floor tiles. “Gabe!” A moment later, rapid pummels hit each step on her run up the stairs.
